GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | South Adelaide SA

GP-36
  • AUD $300,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, South Australia
  • Permanent

A well-regarded mixed-billing family practice in one of Adelaide's most affluent foothills suburbs is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. The practice is part of a growing, family-friendly healthcare group built on GP autonomy and flexibility — and already has a UK-trained ESP GP successfully in post, so the infrastructure for supporting another UK doctor is well-established.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Adelaide SA
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

This suburb sits in Adelaide's leafy southern foothills, around 20 minutes from the CBD, bordering Belair National Park. It's one of Adelaide's more sought-after areas — established, green, family-oriented, with strong schools and high property values reflecting the desirability of the location. Adelaide consistently ranks among the world's most liveable cities: excellent schools, short commutes, meaningfully lower cost of living than Sydney or Melbourne, and genuine outdoor lifestyle with the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale wine region, and beaches all within easy reach.

About the practice

The clinic is part of a healthcare group founded that has grown to more than 10 practices across Australia — entirely through word of mouth and reputation rather than aggressive acquisition. The group's philosophy is built around high GP autonomy, flexibility, and a genuinely family-friendly working culture, which makes it well-suited to UK GPs prioritising work-life balance alongside earnings.

The practice serves an affluent local community, and because the practice charges gap fees, patients tend to expect (and value) longer, more attentive consultations — so this is a role suited to a GP who enjoys practising thorough, relationship-based medicine rather than high-volume throughput. The practice is also expanding its clinical scope, with dermatology and skin work being introduced — offering scope for GPs with that interest.

The group already has a UK-trained ESP GP at this site (who joined around three months ago, relocating from London), and on-site ESP supervision is available through an accredited supervisor — so this is a genuinely well-supported environment for an incoming UK GP on the Expedited Specialist Pathway.

Package & earnings

  • 67/33 billing split in your favour (negotiable for the right candidate)
  • AUD $180/hr income guarantee for the first 3 months while you build your patient base
  • AUD $10,000 relocation allowance
  • 2-year contract
  • Mixed billing with gap fees — strong earning potential given the affluent patient base and longer consultations
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Mixed billing with gap fees — private fees for most consultations, reflecting the affluent local demographic and the practice's relationship-based care model.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration, with on-site supervision capacity for Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP) candidates through an accredited supervisor. Visa sponsorship available if required, with a clear pathway to permanent residency. The group has already successfully supported a UK GP through the ESP process at this exact site, so the operational know-how is in place. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, visa timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Suited to both fellowed GPs and those needing ESP supervision
  • Enjoys thorough, relationship-based medicine — the affluent patient base values time and attention over throughput.
  • Comfortable with a 2-year commitment
  • Open to relocating to Adelaide and embracing the South Australian lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
