GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | South East Melbourne VIC

GP-45
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, Victoria
  • Permanent

A well-run mixed-billing family practice in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. The clinic is fully accredited, open 7 days a week including Sundays, and already has an MRCGP-qualified UK-trained GP successfully in post — so the operational know-how for supporting another UK doctor through arrival and integration is already in place.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: South East Melbourne VIC
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

This suburb sits around 50km south-east of central Melbourne, close to Frankston and on the road out to the Mornington Peninsula — wineries, beaches, coastal towns, and golf courses all on your doorstep. The area is popular with young families drawn to its bayside lifestyle, with strong schools and an active foreshore community. Property prices are meaningfully more affordable than Melbourne's inner suburbs, while Melbourne — consistently ranked among the world's most liveable cities — is within easy commuting range for full metro amenities, food, arts, and sport.

About the practice

The clinic is an AGPAL-accredited general practice run by an established team of independent GPs, with five GPs currently on the roster including a recently-joined MRCGP-qualified UK-trained colleague. The practice's stated philosophy is built around continuity of care, prevention, and community integration — the kind of relationship-based primary care that often draws UK GPs to Australia in the first place.

Clinical scope is unusually broad for a practice of this size: women's health, men's health, children's health and immunisations, mental health, skin cancer treatment and minor surgical procedures, iron infusions, LGBTI health, health assessments, and travel medicine. The clinic is supported by on-site allied health colleagues including osteopathy, physiotherapy, and dietetics — multidisciplinary care without the referral hassle.

The practice is open 7 days a week, including extended weekday hours (Tuesday-Thursday 8am–6:30pm) and both Saturday and Sunday sessions. That gives genuine roster flexibility — GPs who prefer weekend work for lifestyle reasons (mid-week off, school-aged children, etc.) have real options here.

Package & earnings

  • 65–72% billing split in your favour (28–35% service fee, scaled to experience — fellowed GPs typically at the higher end of the split)
  • AUD $160/hr income guarantee for the first 2 months while you build your patient base
  • Relocation allowance to be confirmed per candidate (dependent on total recruitment package)
  • Mixed billing model with strong earning potential once established
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Mixed billing — a blend of private fees and bulk billing across the patient base.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials), with supervision capacity available for ESP candidates through experienced fellowed GPs on the team. 482 visa sponsorship offered, with a clear pathway to permanent residency after the initial contract period. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, visa timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

The practice has direct, current experience supporting a UK-trained GP into the team, so the cultural and clinical onboarding pathway is genuinely well-understood rather than theoretical.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Suited to both fellowed GPs and ESP candidates needing supervision
  • Interest in broad-scope family medicine — skin, women's/men's health, mental health, paediatrics, LGBTI inclusive practice all welcomed
  • Comfortable with weekend rostering as part of the 7-day operation
  • Open to relocating to Melbourne and embracing south-east Melbourne / Mornington Peninsula lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
