GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | Kanwal, Central Coast NSW

GP-44
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, New South Wales
  • Permanent

An independently-owned mixed-billing family practice on the NSW Central Coast is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. This is a settled, community-focused practice with a supportive multicultural team culture, a clear commitment to mixed billing (no plans to shift to bulk), and an immediate clinical gap in skin cancer medicine waiting to be picked up by the right GP.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Central Coast NSW
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

This location sits on the NSW Central Coast, around 1 hour north of Sydney and within easy reach of Newcastle to the north. The Central Coast is one of NSW's fastest-growing lifestyle regions — coastal living, family-oriented communities, and meaningful population growth as families relocate from Sydney for affordability and lifestyle. Property prices are substantially lower than Sydney itself, while Sydney is close enough for city access without the daily cost of living there. Hamlyn Terrace — close to the practice — is a particularly popular residential area for healthcare workers and young families, with modern housing and convenient local amenities.

About the practice

The clinic is a doctor-owned, accredited general practice with a multicultural, supportive team culture — annual Christmas celebrations, regular team lunches, and an informal, friendly working atmosphere that suits a GP relocating from overseas. On-site pathology and a chemist next door support smooth patient flow, and on-site nursing is available Monday to Friday. The practice operates Monday to Thursday 8am–5:30pm and Friday 8am–4pm, with no routine after-hours requirement.

The practice has deliberately maintained a mixed billing model and has no plans to move toward bulk billing — the leadership's view is that bulk billing creates excessive volume pressure that compromises consult quality and patient access. The result is a more sustainable consult pace, stronger per-patient earnings, and a working environment that supports longer-term patient relationships.

A note on patient base: unlike some Australian GP roles, an incoming GP at this practice will not immediately inherit a full patient list. The practice will support patient growth through social media marketing, local campaigns, community awareness activities, existing patient referrals, and the natural growth of the local population — but candidates should expect a gradual build over the first 6–12 months rather than an immediate full caseload. The 12-week income guarantee (detailed below) is structured to provide meaningful financial protection during this establishment period.

Clinical opportunity — skin cancer work: the practice previously had a GP performing significant volumes of skin cancer medicine. That doctor departed in 2022 (to work closer to home, not for any practice-related reason), and the workload has remained largely unreplaced since. A GP with skin cancer interest, qualifications, or experience would have an immediate, well-defined development pathway to rebuild that clinical stream — potentially with strong earnings upside given the unmet local demand.

Package & earnings

  • 70/30 billing split in your favour (30% service fee)
  • AUD $150/hr income guarantee for 12 weeks (based on a 7-hour clinical day — approximately $1,050 per day, $5,250 per week)
  • AUD $10,000 relocation allowance at signing (with flexibility to increase for an exceptional candidate)
  • Standard consultations approximately 10 minutes at a typical fee of AUD $85
  • Optional after-hours and weekend shifts available via local GP networks for GPs wanting to supplement income
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Mixed billing — predominantly private fees with bulk billing for concession card holders, children, and DVA patients. The mixed billing model is a deliberate, long-term choice by the practice, not subject to review.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear pathway to permanent residency. The practice has experience supporting international GPs through the registration and relocation process and is comfortable with the ESP supervision requirements. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Skin cancer interest, qualifications, or experience particularly welcomed — a genuine clinical opportunity to rebuild an established workload
  • Comfortable with a supported patient-base-build period rather than expecting an immediately full clinic
  • Interest in long-term, relationship-based mixed billing family medicine
  • Suited to both fellowed GPs and ESP candidates needing supervision
  • Open to relocating to coastal NSW and embracing the Central Coast lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
