GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | Central Coast NSW

GP-42
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, New South Wales
  • Permanent

A long-established, independent mixed-billing GP practice on the NSW Central Coast is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. With over 30 years in the community, a loyal patient base, and books currently closed to new patients due to demand, this is a genuine "settled, established community medicine" opportunity — and a meaningful step away from the corporate medical centre model.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Central Coast NSW
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

This township sits on the NSW Central Coast, around 1 hour north of Sydney via the M1 motorway, and roughly midway between Gosford and Newcastle. The Central Coast is one of NSW's genuinely underrated lifestyle destinations — coastal living, semi-rural surroundings, beaches, bush walking, caves and canyoning, and a family-oriented community feel. Property prices are dramatically lower than Sydney itself (a 3-bedroom rental sits at around AUD $500–700 per week), while Sydney is close enough for occasional city access without the daily cost of living there. The combination of outdoor recreation, family-friendly amenities, and proximity to a major capital makes this a particularly strong fit for UK GPs prioritising quality of life over postcode prestige.

About the practice

The clinic has been serving the local community for approximately 32 years — a meaningful track record that's reflected in the patient relationships and local reputation. This is an independent, doctor-owned practice rather than a corporate medical centre, and the working environment is genuinely smaller, community-oriented, and personality-driven. The team is close-knit, the leadership is direct and pragmatic, and the culture is informal rather than highly corporate or polished.

Clinical work is broad family medicine with strong continuity of care: chronic disease management, diabetes care, men's and women's health, mental health, ECGs, health assessments, travel medicine, vaccinations, telehealth, ATSI health checks, and elderly care assessments. Consult pace sits at approximately 4 patients per hour, supporting a more traditional longitudinal family medicine approach rather than high-volume throughput.

The vacancy has come up because a current GP is retiring, leaving a substantial gap in patient capacity. Demand is genuinely strong — the practice is currently closed to new patients, meaning an incoming GP will have a ready-made patient base from day one rather than building from scratch.

After-hours cover is provided through the local Bridges After Hours Service, so out-of-hours pressure on the incoming GP is minimal.

Package & earnings

  • 70/30 billing split in your favour (30% service fee)
  • AUD $180/hr income guarantee for the first 3 months while you build your patient base
  • AUD $10,000 relocation allowance
  • Current owner-GP bills approximately AUD $2,500 per day — strong indicator of established earning potential
  • Full-time considered as 4 days per week

Billing model

Mixed billing — private fees for most adults and Commonwealth Seniors Card holders, with bulk billing for children under 16, pension concession card holders, and DVA patients. The mixed billing model supports a more sustainable consult pace and stronger earning potential than a fully bulk-billing alternative.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear pathway to permanent residency. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Strong communication skills and confident patient rapport — the practice values clear, easy patient interaction highly
  • Interest in long-term, relationship-based family medicine — this is not a high-turnover environment
  • Comfortable in an informal, close-knit, independently-run practice rather than a corporate group
  • Open to relocating to coastal NSW and embracing the Central Coast lifestyle
  • Long-term mindset — the practice is looking for a settled, lasting addition rather than a short-term hire

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
