A well-established mixed-billing practice in Sydney's Sutherland Shire is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP — ideally with a view to starting within the next 6–12 months. The practice has a 12-month DPA exemption window in place following a recent resignation, making this a time-sensitive opportunity with a clear start-date runway.

- DPA status: Non-DPA location with a 12-month DPA exemption in place until February 2027. A Medicare provider number is available under the exemption provided the successful GP is in post within this window.
- MMM classification: MM1
The location sits in Sydney's Sutherland Shire, around 25km south of the CBD, with direct train access into central Sydney. The Shire is one of Sydney's most sought-after family areas — genuinely strong beaches (Cronulla is 10 minutes away), the Royal National Park on your doorstep, excellent schools, and a settled community feel. You get beachside Sydney living without the eastern suburbs price tag, though you're still within comfortable reach of central Sydney, the airport, and the broader metro area.
About the practice
The clinic has been serving the local community for 15 years and has been under its current ownership since 2023. The patient base sits at around 5,000 registered patients, with strong local loyalty and a settled community role. The practice includes GPs with a range of backgrounds — including UK-trained colleagues — and has a clear preference for bringing in GPs who prioritise rapport-building and strong bedside manner, given the patient demographic and expectation.
There is capacity to grow to two additional GPs over time, but the current DPA exemption allows for one UK-trained GP, so this role represents that specific opportunity.
Package & earnings
- Competitive billing split (negotiable for the right candidate)
- AUD $150/hr income guarantee for the first 3 months while you build your patient base
- Expected earnings once established circa AUD $500,000 per year for a full-time GP
- Full-time or part-time considered
Billing model
Mixed billing — currently private billing for most adults with bulk billing for children. The practice has existing UK-trained GPs who have settled well and the patient base responds strongly to continuity and bedside manner.
Visa & AHPRA support
Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and visa sponsorship — typically the 482 or Skills in Demand visa, with a clear PR pathway. Given the time-sensitive DPA exemption window, candidates who can commit to a faster AHPRA and visa timeline will be prioritised. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.
Who we're looking for
- UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
- Strong communication skills and patient rapport — this practice values bedside manner highly
- Able to commit to being in post before February 2027 to align with the DPA exemption window
- No specific sub-specialty required — broad-scope general practice
- Open to relocating to Sydney and embracing Sutherland Shire living
