GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | Gosford, Central Coast NSW

GP-54
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, New South Wales
  • Permanent

Every clinic in this practice's national network is fully owned and operated by GPs — no investors, no board, no lock-in periods on your working arrangements. For UK GPs weighing up Australia and specifically wanting to escape corporate consolidation, that structural distinction matters more than any individual site's marketing copy. This role is at the group's Gosford clinic on the NSW Central Coast — 10 years established, mixed billing, and looking to welcome a UK-trained GP with a particular interest in women's health services to join its team.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Gosford, Central Coast NSW
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

Gosford is the administrative and commercial centre of the NSW Central Coast, around 90 minutes north of Sydney by direct rail or road. The Central Coast is one of NSW's fastest-growing lifestyle regions — coastal living, beaches, family-oriented communities, and property prices dramatically lower than Sydney itself. Gosford has strong local amenities including its own rail station on the Central Coast line, and the clinic sits centrally on Mann Street. Sydney is close enough for international airport access and occasional city visits without daily commute costs, and Newcastle to the north offers a coastal-city alternative for weekends.

About the practice group

This role is part of Australia's largest group of fully GP-owned and GP-operated medical clinics — a nationwide network built explicitly around the principle that clinical decisions should be made by clinicians, not by external shareholders. There are no investors and no board driving the group's decision-making. Every practice in the network is owned and run only by doctors, and the group is an RACGP-accredited CPD major provider — meaning your ongoing professional development is genuinely supported rather than an afterthought.

Working arrangements across the group are deliberately flexible: high GP autonomy, no lock-in periods, and long-term retention rewarded rather than assumed.

About this clinic

The clinic has served central Gosford for 10 years. The current team includes four GPs (one Sydney University-trained FRACGP who is the site's primary GP supervisor for trainee doctors completing their GP specialty training, a University of Newcastle graduate with a special interest in skin cancer medicine, a South African-trained FRACGP, and a recently-joined registrar), supported by allied health services on site including audiometry, dietetics, podiatry, and psychology.

The clinical scope is unusually broad for a mid-sized general practice — general medicine, chronic disease management, mental health, skin cancer screening, minor skin excisions, mole removal, women's health including IUD insertion, family planning, iron infusions, 24-hour BP and ECG holter monitoring, spirometry, and geriatric assessments. This is a practice with real clinical range, not a bulk-billing throughput operation.

The clinic operates Monday to Thursday 8:30am–5:30pm, and Friday 8:30am–5:00pm — sensible weekday hours with no weekend or public holiday commitment.

The practice has strong patient demand for women's health services and is particularly keen to grow capacity in this area, which is the primary driver of the current recruitment.

Package & earnings

  • 70/30 billing split in your favour (30% service fee — a genuinely strong split for the Australian market)
  • Signing incentive: AUD $5,000 per year committed, up to $25,000 total on a 5-year contract:
    • 2 years = $10,000
    • 3 years = $15,000
    • 4 years = $20,000
    • 5 years = $25,000
  • 2–3 month income guarantee at hourly rate (to be confirmed per candidate)
  • Contract length: minimum 2 years, up to 5 years — with the signing incentive scaling accordingly
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Mixed billing — a blend of private fees and bulk billing across the patient base, at individual GP discretion within practice guidelines.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear pathway to 186 permanent residency after 2 years on the 482. The group has extensive institutional experience supporting UK-trained GPs through the ESP pathway — this is one of the more well-organised international recruitment operations in the Australian GP market, and one of the site's current GPs is a formally-accredited GP supervisor supporting trainee doctors. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, ESP timelines, visa, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Suited to both fellowed GPs and ESP candidates needing supervision
  • Interest in women's health particularly welcomed — this is the primary driver of the current recruitment
  • Interest in broad-scope general practice — skin cancer, chronic disease, mental health, women's and men's health
  • Long-term mindset — the signing incentive structure genuinely rewards multi-year commitment
  • Open to relocating to coastal NSW and embracing the Central Coast lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, ESP timelines, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly, and roles like this one, where signing incentives reward multi-year commitment, reward candidates who plan the move carefully.
