Fee-for-Service (80/20)   |  Walk-in + Build Your Own Family Roster  |   Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Summary

“A rare chance to build and own a family-practice roster from an established, high-volume walk-in stream — in an under-served lakeside city an hour from Toronto, with an operator who leads on relationships, not contracts.”

Salary & Employment Terms

  • Fee-for-service on a physician-friendly 80/20 split — you keep 80%
  • Location: Canada, Ontario (Barrie, Simcoe County)
  • Type: Permanent, independent practice — walk-in sessions plus your own family roster
  • Pattern: Around 3 days a week on walk-in, the rest building your family practice (~4–5 days total)

Location & Registration Status

City / Region: Barrie, a lakeside city in Simcoe County — about an hour from Toronto

Community classification: The wider area is genuinely under-served for physicians, with real scope to build a large family practice. Worth checking the Rurality Index of Ontario (RIO) score for any recruitment incentives [To confirm]

Registration: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). UK-trained family physicians who completed their CCT qualify for CPSO licensure without further examination or supervision

Billing number: OHIP billing number available on Ontario licensure

Barrie sits on the shores of Lake Simcoe — a growing city with good schools and the outdoors on the doorstep, while keeping Toronto within about an hour's reach.

About the Practice Group

Wellington Walk-in Clinic is a long-established Barrie practice — over 13 years in the city — with a strong local reputation and a well-established patient base. It is owner-operated and relationship-led: the owner runs the operation so physicians can get on with medicine, and is looking for people who genuinely want to be there for the long term.

About This Clinic

Established: Over 13 years in Barrie

Team: Three part-time walk-in physicians, plus four Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) doctors off-site

Volume: High-volume walk-in service — 40–50 patients per day

The Role

  • Cover the retiring physician's walk-in sessions while building a family-practice roster from the walk-in stream
  • Convert high walk-in volume into attached, rostered patients — in step with the government's push on patient attachment and continuity of care
  • Run your own practice — set your own hours and add the services you want; the owner is an operator, not a micro-manager
  • Physicians cover each other for holidays and time off, so no one is ever left alone

Key Driver:

“One of the clinic's physicians is retiring, opening up walk-in days to cover — and, more importantly, the chance to rebuild the family practice the owner ran before COVID.”

Package & Earnings

  • Payment model: Fee-for-service, billed to OHIP, on an 80/20 split (you keep 80%) — likely starting on fee-for-service and working through the government rostering programme from there
  • Admin taken care of: The clinic handles supplies, reception, all admin/paperwork and building maintenance, so you can focus on patients
  • Boost your income: Added services such as minor procedures and injections, plus premiums for under-served and over-age patients
  • Settling support: A modest signing bonus and a reduced split for the first few months to help you land [To confirm exact terms]
  • Flexibility: Room for other commitments — some physicians also do sessions elsewhere or hospital work

BDI provides full end-to-end support across your whole move to Canada — from the first conversation through registration and relocation to the day you start seeing patients.

Who We're Looking For

  • UK-trained family physician who completed CCT in the UK — eligible for CPSO licensure without further examination or supervision
  • Genuinely wants to be there for the long term (a minimum two-year commitment is typical) and to build and own a roster in an under-served, high-demand area
  • A good fit for a close, supportive, relationship-led team — where the working environment matters as much as the money
  • Ready to relocate and settle into the Barrie area
