Family Physician (GP)
- CAD $250k - $450k
- Canada, Ontario
- Permanent
Summary
“A brand-new, physician-owned one-stop medical centre in Guelph opens this autumn with 700 patients already registered before day one — a rare chance to build your own roster from a full waiting list rather than from scratch.”
Salary & Employment Terms
- Fee-for-service — CAD $150/hour income guarantee for the initial months, with strong FFS earning potential thereafter (the clinic expects billings well above the guarantee)
- Location: Canada, Ontario (Guelph)
- Type: Permanent — independent contractor, two-year minimum term (open to longer)
Location & Registration Status
City / Region: Guelph, Ontario — a thriving mid-sized city in the Greater Toronto–Waterloo corridor, roughly 30 minutes from Mississauga and within easy reach of the GTA.
Community classification: Urban. This is not a designated rural/under-served community, so — importantly for UK-trained GPs — the role carries no Return-of-Service obligation.
Registration pathway: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), via the streamlined route for UK-trained family physicians — since 2023, doctors who trained and completed their CCT in the UK are eligible without further examination, PRA, or supervision.
Billing number: OHIP billing number available on licensure.
Guelph offers a genuinely high quality of life — a safe, family-friendly city with excellent schools, green space and a strong community feel, while staying connected to Toronto, Waterloo and Hamilton.
About the Practice Group
A brand-new, physician-owned one-stop medical centre — a purpose-built, ~10,000 sq ft medical building housing family practice, walk-in, on-site pharmacy, laboratory, cardiology and specialist services under one roof. The owner also runs an established 20-physician clinic in Alberta and brings a deliberately supportive, "we work as a family" culture — physicians cover for one another and share the load.
About This Clinic
Established: Opening October 2026 (brand new)
Team: Launching with 2 physicians, growing to around 7 as the centre scales into its 13 exam rooms
Clinical Scope
- Family practice (rostered patients)
- Large walk-in clinic
- Addiction medicine
- Dermatology & minor procedures
- Women's health
- Travel clinic
- On-site pharmacy, laboratory, cardiology and specialist services

“700 patients registered before opening — the demand is already there, and the clinic is hiring to meet it and to grow.”
Package & Earnings
- Payment model: Fee-for-service (independent contractor)
- Overhead split: Graduated to help you ramp — the clinic takes 10% for the first 6 months, ~20% thereafter, then 25% (you keep 90% → 80% → 75%)
- Income guarantee: CAD $150/hour for the initial months
- Practice support: Nursing, secretarial, administrative and EMR support all provided — you focus on medicine, not admin
- Signing / relocation incentive: [To confirm] — the clinic assists with finding housing; full BDI relocation support included
- Contract: Two-year minimum term (open to longer)
- Flexibility: Full-time; the clinic works schedules around the physician
Registration & Immigration Support
We manage the move end to end. For UK-trained GPs, CPSO registration is refreshingly straightforward — with your CCT and MRCGP, you qualify via the streamlined comparable-jurisdiction route (no PRA, no exams, no supervision). The clinic sponsors your work permit (LMIA-based or via an LMIA-exempt job offer), and we guide you through to permanent residence — family physicians (NOC 31102) are eligible under category-based Express Entry healthcare draws, with provincial physician streams as a further route.
Alongside the paperwork, BDI supports you and your family with the whole relocation — licensing documents, visa, flights, accommodation, schools and bank accounts — and we're on hand 24/7 throughout the ~6-month journey.
Who We're Looking For
- A UK-trained family physician with MRCGP and CCT (or an equivalent internationally-trained GP eligible for CPSO registration)
- English-speaking. The clinic particularly welcomes applications from female family physicians, reflecting current patient demand
- A quality-focused clinician who values continuity of care and sustainable patient loads over high-volume churn
- Ready to relocate to Ontario (realistically a ~6-month lead time), and keen to build and own a growing roster
