GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM1 | Brisbane Region QLD

GP-57
  • AUD $400,000 – $560,000 per year
  • Australia, Queensland
  • Permanent

Bulk billing and AUD $500,000-plus earnings aren't usually part of the same sentence in Australian general practice. At this Ipswich clinic they are — through a combination of quarterly incentive loading, strong patient demand, an upfront relocation payment, and a settled UK-friendly team culture that consistently keeps established GPs' books full. For UK-trained doctors wondering whether the bulk billing model can genuinely support the earnings level they'd hoped for, this role is worth a serious look.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Brisbane Region QLD
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

Ipswich sits around 30 minutes west of central Brisbane, with direct rail and motorway access into the city. The region is a genuine growth corridor — significant infrastructure investment, a rapidly expanding residential population, and one of the more affordable relocation options in South East Queensland. Housing is dramatically more affordable than Brisbane itself or the eastern-state capitals, schools are strong, and the lifestyle suits GPs who want city access without metropolitan pricing. Brisbane's beaches (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) are both within easy reach, as is the Scenic Rim wine and food region.

About the practice

The clinic is an established, doctor-owned bulk-billing family practice on Brisbane Street in West Ipswich, with a settled team of six GPs. The practice has a genuine track record of successfully placing UK-trained doctors — several current and previous members of the clinical team came through UK training pathways and have built long-term careers with the practice. That kind of institutional experience matters practically: the operational know-how for supporting UK GPs through registration, arrival, and integration is embedded in the practice rather than something to figure out from scratch.

Clinical scope is broad general practice — men's, women's, and children's health delivered across a settled patient community. The team is supported by an experienced nursing and administrative structure, and after-hours cover is provided through the National Home Doctor Service, meaning no on-call burden on the practice's own GPs.

The clinic operates Monday to Friday 7:30am–5pm (with extended Thursday hours to 7pm), plus weekend and public holiday morning sessions (subject to doctor availability). Standard consultations are 10 minutes, with 15-minute appointments accommodated during the settling-in period for new GPs.

Package & earnings

  • 70/30 billing split in your favour (30% service fee), plus quarterly federal bulk billing incentive loading
  • AUD $150/hr income guarantee for the first 3 months while you build your patient base
  • AUD $10,000 relocation allowance — paid upfront at the start (not retrospectively)
  • Realistic earnings for an established GP: patient demand supports strong billings once established, with the quarterly incentive structure meaningfully lifting take-home compared to standard bulk-billing comparators
  • Standard weekday hours Monday to Friday, with an optional 1-in-5 weekend roster (not a deal-breaker)
  • No on-call obligation
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Bulk billing for Medicare card holders on weekdays. Weekend and public holiday appointments are privately billed. Federal bulk billing incentive loading applied quarterly on top of standard billings.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear pathway to permanent residency. The practice has direct, current experience supporting internationally-trained doctors — UK-trained GPs have joined and settled successfully within the team previously, so the operational infrastructure for the transition is genuinely in place rather than theoretical. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, visa timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Suited to both fellowed GPs and ESP candidates
  • Comfortable with a 10-minute consultation pace and a busy community bulk-billing practice
  • Interest in broad-scope family medicine
  • Open to relocating to South East Queensland and embracing Brisbane region lifestyle
  • Long-term mindset — the practice values stable clinical relationships and settled patient bases

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
