Community classification: Urban centre of 400,000+ residents; not a designated rural/under-served community under Ontario’s RIO index. Home to three tertiary care hospitals and Western University.
Registration pathway: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) registration. UK-trained GPs with MRCGP (GMC-accredited training, CCT) or Irish-trained GPs with MICGP (ICGP-accredited training, CSCT) can apply for CFPC Certification without Examination (CCFP-WE) — this exempts the MCCQE1 and leads to independent practice immediately, with no supervision period or PRA assessment (in effect since 4 April 2023). Requires continuously unrestricted home registration and a Letter of Good Standing dated within 6 months.
Billing number: OHIP billing number available on licensure.
London offers a genuine city-scale healthcare and lifestyle hub without the commute or cost of Toronto — parks, recreation, and a strong academic community around Western University.

Work permit support (LMIA-based or LMIA-exempt) and a clear runway to permanent residence — via category-based Express Entry healthcare draws (NOC 31102), the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category, or Ontario’s PNP physician stream. Mentorship available for new graduates or those transitioning to independent practice.
