GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM1 | South East Melbourne VIC

GP-33
  • AUD $250,000 – $450,000 per year
  • Australia, Victoria
  • Permanent

A well-established bulk-billing family practice in south-east Melbourne is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team via the Expedited Specialist Pathway. The practice has strong patient demand for women's health services in particular, and has already successfully supported a UK-trained ESP GP through arrival, registration, and settlement — so this is a practice that genuinely understands what the UK-to-Australia transition involves.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: South East Melbourne VIC
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

The suburb sits on the eastern shore of Port Phillip Bay, around 40km south-east of central Melbourne, with direct rail access into the city. It's the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula — wineries, beaches, coastal towns, and golf courses all on your doorstep — and increasingly popular with families drawn to its bayside lifestyle. Schools are strong, the foreshore is active and family-friendly, and property prices are meaningfully more affordable than Melbourne's inner suburbs. Melbourne consistently ranks among the world's most liveable cities, so you get full metro amenities within easy commute alongside genuinely coastal weekend living.

About the practice

The clinic is part of a Melbourne-based healthcare group with a settled, family-medicine focus. Clinical scope is broad — women's health, men's health, children's health, aged care and seniors' health, vaccinations — with on-site medical imaging including X-Ray, CT, and ultrasound through a co-located imaging service. The practice operates extended hours on Monday and Thursday (9am–8pm), with standard 9am–5pm hours other weekdays.

The practice has strong patient demand for women's health services and is particularly keen to grow capacity in this area, with a long-serving female GP retiring over the coming six months. Continuity of care matters here — many patients have long-term relationships with the practice, and the role is genuinely a replacement rather than a speculative addition.

The practice also has an existing UK-trained ESP GP who joined three months ago and is currently scaling up to four days per week — so the operational infrastructure for supporting another UK GP through the same pathway is already in place. The practice has been patient with realistic ESP timelines, which makes this a sensible role to plan toward even if you're not yet ready to move immediately.

Standard appointments are 15 minutes, with most GPs averaging around AUD $250 per hour at typical pace.

  • Most GPs earn around AUD $250 per hour at standard pace
  • Relocation allowance negotiable based on individual circumstances
  • Sensible start pattern: the role is structured to start at 2–3 days per week, building to full-time as you settle in and become familiar with the system
  • Urgent care shifts available at hourly rates (not billings) after 6 months and once fellowship status is achieved
  • Full-time role preferred long-term

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration on the Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP), with on-site supervision capacity and a practice that has successfully guided a UK GP through the ESP process within the past 12 months. 482 visa sponsorship offered, with a clear pathway to permanent residency. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, visa timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification, working alongside a practice that genuinely understands UK-to-Australia transitions.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Particularly suited to ESP candidates — the practice has strong supervision infrastructure and a proven track record on this pathway
  • Interest in women's health is particularly welcomed given current patient demand
  • Dermatology interest valued; basic skin procedures and incisions can be learned on the job
  • Comfortable starting at part-time (2–3 days/week) and building to full-time as you settle in
  • Open to relocating to Melbourne and embracing south-east Melbourne / Mornington Peninsula lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, ESP timelines, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly, and this practice is patient with realistic ESP timelines.
