Family Physician / GP (UK-Trained)

CAN-05
  • CAD $200,000 - $450,000
  • Canada, Ontario
  • Permanent

Summary

“Step into an Ontario practice with the patients already waiting — a managed network that hands you an established list of 300–500 from day one, handles the admin, incorporation and licensing, and lets you focus on medicine, not building a business from scratch.”

Salary & Employment Terms

  • Income guarantee: approx. CAD $150/hour, typically for the first 3 months
  • Where you bring/inherit an established panel: 90/10 revenue split (physician/clinic), no guarantee
  • Ongoing: typically ~80/20 (physician/clinic)
  • Location: Canada, Ontario (multiple communities — urban, semi-rural, and rural)
  • Type: Permanent; full-time or part-time
  • Current demand: 3–5 GP vacancies across the network at any one time

Location & Registration Status

Region: Ontario-wide. You’re matched to 2–3 clinic options based on your preferred location, clinical interests, practice style, panel preference, and lifestyle.

Community classification: Roles span urban, semi-rural, and rural Ontario. Rural and semi-rural placements may qualify for provincial recruitment incentives.

Registration pathway: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Strong track record with GMC-trained UK GPs through the current CPSO route, including the Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA) pathway where eligible.

Billing number: OHIP billing eligibility supported through licensing.

Ontario is shifting away from pure fee-for-service toward team-based care, capitation, and allied-health models — the network is built around that direction, with faster patient access and better operational support than a typical Family Health Team.

About the Practice Group

Our client is a physician practice-management organisation running a network of around 90 privately-owned clinics across Ontario. The organisation handles recruitment, HR and staffing, operations, marketing, patient acquisition, practice growth, AI/software systems, and administrative support, so physicians can concentrate on clinical care. It differentiates on faster patient access, flexible working arrangements, and strong operational backing for doctors. (Network name shared with shortlisted candidates.)

About the Roles

Network: ~90 managed clinics; many with established patient bases, so you’re not starting from zero.

Matching: 2–3 suitable clinic options presented per physician.

Patient panels:

  • Start with an established waitlist of 300–500 patients before commencement
  • Target long-term roster of around 2,000 patients

Clinical scope: Full-scope community family medicine and longitudinal primary care. Specific service lines vary by clinic.

Working arrangements: Flexible; full-time or part-time by agreement.

Key Driver: “The network is expanding physician capacity across Ontario and actively recruiting UK-trained GPs, who are valued for their experience in a publicly funded system.”

Package & Earnings

  • Payment model: Blended — income guarantee to start, moving to a revenue split; fee-for-service billed to OHIP, with Ontario increasingly favouring capitation and team-based models
  • Income guarantee: approx. CAD $150/hour, typically first 3 months
  • Revenue split: 80/20
  • Relocation support: Cash packages are uncommon in Ontario; instead you get hands-on setup support — professional incorporation, banking, accountancy, practice setup, government incentive applications, licensing guidance, and operational onboarding
  • Contract: 2 years

Registration & Immigration Support

Full support through CPSO registration for GMC-trained UK GPs, including the Practice-Ready Assessment pathway where eligible, plus licensing guidance, professional incorporation, and operational onboarding handled for you. For candidates relocating from the UK, there is a clear pathway to permanent residence — the category-based Express Entry healthcare draws (family physician, NOC 31102), the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category once established, or an Ontario Provincial Nominee physician stream.

Who We’re Looking For

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP / CCT, GMC-registered
  • Eligible for, or willing to pursue, CPSO registration (PRA pathway where relevant)
  • Open to relocating to Ontario — urban, semi-rural, or rural
  • Keen to step into an established patient list rather than build from scratch
  • Values operational support and flexible working over a large upfront cash package
