GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM4 | Gippsland VIC

GP-23
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, Victoria
  • Permanent

A well-established not-for-profit community health service on Victoria's spectacular East Gippsland coast is looking to welcome two UK-trained GPs to its team. This is a genuinely different kind of GP role: community-focused, multidisciplinary, with an unusually broad scope that includes access to a dedicated sexual and reproductive health hub, palliative care, and Aboriginal health services. For GPs who want population-level care rather than private-billing volume, this is the posting.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: East Gippsland VIC
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM4

This coastal location sits at the gateway to the Gippsland Lakes — Australia's largest inland waterway system — around 4 hours east of Melbourne. The area is a genuine paradise for anyone drawn to water, fishing, boating, or coastal wilderness: world-class beaches, national parks, the 90 Mile Beach, and a year-round community that swells with visitors during the Australian summer. Housing is dramatically more affordable than anywhere on Melbourne's commutable edge, schools are strong, and the lifestyle is the opposite of metro Australia — slower, outdoors-oriented, and community-rooted. Melbourne is within reach for city weekends without the daily cost or congestion.

About the practice

The service is a not-for-profit community health organisation serving East Gippsland, with one main GP clinic based and satellite services across the region. The current clinical team includes five GPs, and the service is looking to add two more to meet community demand.

Clinical scope is unusually broad for a GP role — the service operates a dedicated sexual and reproductive health hub, child protection services, palliative care, Aboriginal health and wellbeing services, and a full multidisciplinary allied health team including dietetics, physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and exercise physiology.

Sub-specialty interests in sexual health and palliative care are particularly welcomed, though the service will support any clinical interest you'd like to develop. The organisation has already supported one UK GP through the ESP process (expected to arrive shortly), so the infrastructure for international recruitment is in place.

Patient demographics are mixed but weighted toward elderly — reflecting the broader East Gippsland population. Standard 15-minute appointments, with flexibility to shift to 10-minute appointments once you're established and confident. The clinic is open Monday to Friday plus Saturday mornings, with genuine flexibility on hours.

Package & earnings

  • 70/30 billing split in your favour (potentially negotiable for the right candidate)
  • 3-month income guarantee while you build your patient base (amount negotiable per candidate)
  • Full clinic from day one given existing patient demand
  • Full-time or part-time considered
  • Flexible hours with genuine openness to part-time arrangements

Billing model

Mixed billing, with the majority of consultations bulk-billed reflecting the community health service model.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear PR pathway. The organisation works with an immigration agent to support visa processes and has previously recruited internationally via ESP. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Genuine interest in community health and population-level primary care — this is not a high-volume private billing role
  • Sub-specialty interest in sexual and reproductive health, palliative care, or Aboriginal health particularly welcomed
  • Comfortable working across multiple sites where needed
  • Open to relocating to regional Victoria and embracing East Gippsland living

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
