GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | North Brisbane QLD
- AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
- Australia, Queensland
- Permanent
A large, well-resourced mixed-billing practice in Queensland's Moreton Bay region is looking to welcome UK-trained GPs on an ongoing basis. The clinic offers something unusual for the Australian GP market: billing autonomy — each GP can choose to work bulk, mixed, or private depending on their patient approach and earnings preferences. Strong support infrastructure, 7-day opening, and an urgent care component alongside standard GP consulting.
Location & registration status
- Suburb: North Brisbane QLD
- DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
- MMM classification: MM1
This location sits in the Moreton Bay region, around 40km north of central Brisbane, with direct road and rail access into the city. The area is popular with young families — affordable housing, strong schools, and fast access to both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast beaches (around 45 minutes north). Brisbane itself offers year-round warm weather, lower cost of living than Sydney or Melbourne, and a growing food, arts, and sport scene. Property in the Moreton Bay region is substantially more affordable than comparable Sydney or Melbourne catchments.
About the practice
The clinic is part of a national healthcare network operating many clinics across Australia, with the support infrastructure of a large group combined with the day-to-day feel of a full-service local practice. The team is 12+ GPs strong, supported by nursing and allied health colleagues, and open 7 days a week.
What sets this site apart is the billing autonomy — individual GPs can choose whether to work bulk billing, mixed billing, or fully private. That's increasingly rare in Australian group practice and gives you genuine control over your own earnings model. The clinic also runs an urgent care component alongside standard GP consulting, which is reflected in a different service fee (25%) for urgent care shifts vs. 35% for standard GP work.
The group has supervision capacity for ESP (Expedited Specialist Pathway) candidates — a real advantage given the shortage of ESP-ready supervisors in Australia. Several UK doctors are already in post or working through the pathway with the group.
Expected patient pace sits at around 4 patients per hour once you're established.
Package & earnings
- 65/35 billing split in your favour for standard GP work (service fee 35%)
- 75/25 billing split for urgent care shifts (service fee 25%)
- Individual billing autonomy — choose bulk, mixed, or private billing per your own approach
- AUD $160/hr income guarantee for the first 3 months while you build your patient base
- Relocation package of AUD $36,000 across two years (timing negotiable, dependent on contracted hours — e.g. 30hrs/week vs 38hrs/week)
- Full-time or part-time considered
Billing model
Individual GP choice — bulk, mixed, or private billing depending on your preferred model.
Visa & AHPRA support
Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway — with supervision capacity confirmed for ESP candidates) and visa sponsorship, with a clear PR pathway. The group has direct experience supporting UK GPs through the process. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.
Who we're looking for
- UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
- Suited to both fellowed GPs and those needing ESP supervision
- No specific sub-specialty required — broad-scope general practice
- Comfortable picking up urgent care shifts alongside standard GP consulting (optional)
- Open to relocating to Queensland and embracing the south-east Queensland lifestyle
Next steps
Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.
Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
