GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM4 | North West Tasmania
- AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
- Australia, Tasmania
- Permanent
A well-established bulk-billing medical centre on Tasmania's spectacular north-west coast is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. The practice is part of a national medical group that has recruited extensively from the UK over the last 18 months — around 99% of recent GP arrivals across the group have been UK-trained, so the operational know-how for supporting UK doctors through registration, visa, and relocation is genuinely well-established.
Location & registration status
- Suburb: North West Tasmania
- DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
- MMM classification: MM4
This rural location sits on the spectacular north-west coast of Tasmania, with the Bass Strait beaches on your doorstep, the Cradle Mountain wilderness an hour inland, and Devonport (with ferry connections to mainland Australia) just along the coast. Tasmania consistently ranks as one of Australia's most underrated relocation destinations for UK GPs — temperate climate (the closest in feel to the UK of anywhere in Australia), world-class outdoor lifestyle, dramatically lower cost of living than the mainland capitals, strong schools, and a quality-of-life proposition that's hard to replicate elsewhere. The city itself is a working coastal city with good amenities, a regional airport, and an established community feel.
About the practice
The clinic is part of a national medical centre group operating 200+ practices across Australia, with deep institutional experience supporting UK-trained GPs through every stage of the transition. The centre is a fully bulk-billing practice with broad clinical scope: aged care, musculoskeletal and joint disorders, chronic disease management, dermatology, mental health, occupational health, skin cancer medicine, and travel medicine. There's a dedicated treatment room for wound management, minor procedures and vaccinations, with regular visits from a dietitian and diabetes educator.
The clinic operates Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, and uses EasyVisit for online bookings. There's a same-day "Swift Clinic" pathway for brief appointments alongside standard consulting.

Visa & AHPRA support
Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials), with on-site supervision capacity available at supported centres across the group. 482 visa sponsorship supported, with a clear pathway to permanent residency after 2 years — the group's 38-hour weekly structure is specifically designed to support that PR pathway. The group has an in-house migration agent to support the visa application, and our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.
Around 99% of recent GP arrivals across the group have been UK-trained — meaning you'd be joining an organisation that has done this many times and knows exactly what good UK-to-Australia transition looks like.
Who we're looking for
- UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
- Suited to both fellowed GPs and those needing ESP supervision
- Comfortable with a 38-hour-per-week commitment (supports PR application)
- Open to a 2–3 year contract commitment
- Open to relocating to regional Tasmania and embracing the north-west coast lifestyle
Next steps
Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.
Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly. Once a GP is offered a role with the group, the position is typically reserved for up to 12 months, giving you plenty of time to manage your AHPRA, visa, and personal logistics properly.
