GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM2 | Hobart TAS

GP-39
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, Tasmania
  • Permanent

A well-established bulk-billing medical centre in greater Hobart is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. The practice is part of a national medical group that has recruited extensively from the UK over the last 18 months — around 99% of recent GP arrivals across the group have been UK-trained, so the operational know-how for supporting UK doctors through registration, visa, and relocation is genuinely well-established.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Hobart TAS
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM2

This suburb sits around 10km north of central Hobart, in greater Hobart's northern corridor. Hobart is one of Australia's most genuinely underrated relocation destinations for UK GPs — a compact, walkable harbour city with world-class food, arts (including MONA), and access to Tasmania's spectacular wilderness within minutes of the CBD. The climate is closer to the UK than anywhere else in Australia — temperate, four genuine seasons — and cost of living is meaningfully lower than the mainland capitals. Schools are strong, the lifestyle is family-friendly, and the entire island is essentially a national park-meets-coastline at your doorstep.

About the practice

The clinic is part of a national medical centre group operating 230+ practices across Australia, with deep institutional experience supporting UK-trained GPs through every stage of the transition. The Glenorchy centre has been established in the community since 2007 and operates as a fully bulk-billing practice with broad clinical scope, including skin cancer services and diabetes education.

The clinic is open Monday to Saturday — extended hours during the week and Saturday mornings 9am–2pm — and is located with good access to public transport, wheelchair accessibility, and good local amenities. The practice uses EasyVisit for online bookings.

Package & earnings

  • Flexible 65–70% billing split in your favour (30–35% service fee, negotiable as part of the overall package)
  • AUD $160/hr income guarantee for the first 12 weeks while you build your patient base
  • Relocation allowance AUD $20,000–$40,000 (the higher end available in exchange for a slightly higher service fee, or vice versa — genuinely negotiable)
  • Complimentary Airbnb accommodation for the first 4 weeks on arrival
  • 2–3 year contract (flexible)
  • 38-hour commitment per week
  • Full bulk billing with BBPIP (Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Programme) where applicable

Billing model

Fully bulk billing — accessing federal bulk billing incentive structures where applicable.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials), with on-site supervision capacity available at supported centres across the group. 482 visa sponsorship supported, with a clear pathway to permanent residency after 2 years — the group's 38-hour weekly structure is specifically designed to support that PR pathway. The group has an in-house migration agent to support the visa application, and our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Around 99% of recent GP arrivals across the group have been UK-trained — meaning you'd be joining an organisation that has done this many times and knows exactly what good UK-to-Australia transition looks like.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Suited to both fellowed GPs and those needing ESP supervision
  • Comfortable with a 38-hour-per-week commitment
  • Open to a 2–3 year contract commitment
  • Open to relocating to Tasmania and embracing the Hobart lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly. Once a GP is offered a role with the group, the position is typically reserved for up to 12 months, giving you plenty of time to manage your AHPRA, visa, and personal logistics properly.
