A well-established bulk-billing family practice in Geelong's eastern suburbs is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team — and offers something genuinely rare in Australian general practice: structured, sensible working hours. No urgent care, no after-hours, last booked patient at 4:30pm, and proper breaks built into every session. For UK GPs who've left the NHS partly to escape unsustainable pace, this role is worth a serious look.

This suburb sits just east of central Geelong, on the road out to the Bellarine Peninsula. Geelong itself is Victoria's second-largest city and one of Australia's genuinely underrated coastal relocation destinations — world-class beaches, the Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road on your doorstep, excellent schools, a growing food and arts scene, and property prices substantially lower than Melbourne. Melbourne is around an hour up the highway for city weekends, and the surf coast, Grampians, and wine country are all within comfortable reach. Newcomb is well-served by local amenities, with the practice based in an established neighbourhood retail centre.

About the practice

The clinic is a settled, established practice with four GPs currently on the team, supported by an experienced nursing and administrative team. The practice is fully bulk billing and applies the federal Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Programme (BBPIP) — accessing the additional government incentives that make bulk billing genuinely viable as an earnings model.

The clinic has structured working hours that genuinely respect both GP and patient time:

• Clinic hours 8:30am to 5pm (Saturday and Sunday 9am to noon)
• Last booked patient at 4:30pm
• 10-minute consultations with scheduled breaks built into morning and afternoon sessions
• Half-hour lunch break minimum
• No urgent care work, no after-hours work
• Average around 18 consultations per session
• Weekend rostering approximately 1 in 4

Patient demand is currently strong — the clinic is not accepting new patients at the moment, which means an incoming GP will have a ready-made patient base from day one.

Package & earnings

• 70/30 billing split in your favour (30% service fee)
• Fully bulk billing with BBPIP applied — accessing federal bulk billing incentive structures on top of standard billings
• AUD $150/hr income guarantee for the first 2–3 months while you build your patient base (expected to be brief given existing demand)
• Structured working hours with no after-hours or urgent care obligations
• Weekend rostering approximately 1 in 4
• Full-time role preferred

Billing model

Fully bulk billing with the federal Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Programme applied.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear pathway to permanent residency. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

• UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
• Comfortable with a structured, faster-pace bulk billing rhythm (10-minute consults, ~18 patients per session) in exchange for genuinely sensible hours and clear boundaries
• Available for full-time work with weekend rostering (approximately 1 in 4)
• Open to relocating to Victoria and embracing the coastal lifestyle Geelong offers
