This amazing Trust are looking for a Specialty Doctor in Stroke Medicine, with the aim being to provide them CESR support to get specialist registration in the long term. As a Specialty Doctor, you would be expected to act as a senior figure within the team, working mostly independently with close support from consultants and providing guidance to more junior clinical colleagues within department. You might be asked to provide support at a community hospital for cover of inpatients in the stroke rehabilitation unit, neurology rotations would also be encouraged as part of your job plan. 

Main Duties: 

  • Attend and participate in the stroke ward rounds, this will be done mostly independently with support from consultants when required.
  • Work as part of the stroke on call when required.
  • Hold general and specialist out-patient and diagnostic clinics.
  • Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Teach and supervise junior clinicians within department.
  • Keep clinical skills up to date through regular use of SPAs and CPD.

The site is a medium-sized district general hospital in London providing healthcare to a local population of over 400,000 people. The Trust is nationally renowned for its impact on medical research so plenty of learning opportunities are available to doctors working here. The stroke team here are a lovely bunch of people and have proven very welcoming with international doctors placed here previously.

London is the most popular city to live in the UK, with an estimated population of 9 million people. It is an incredibly diverse, welcoming city to live in with lots of things to do. 

The city has a very high-quality infrastructure system as well so you can either live more centrally or you can live in the suburbs and commute in easily on the train.  

Not only are you near the heart of the UK, you are also surrounded by beautiful, scenic greenery where you can get in touch with nature. Perfect for long walks and sight seeing on sunny bright days.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • GMC registration complete or in process
  • Full MRCP 
  • Experience working with stroke patients 

The following is preferred but not essential: 

  • SCE Stroke Medicine
