As a General Medicine Senior Clinical Fellow, you will play senior part to your department where you may have to work cross site. You will be mirroring a trainee rota where you will work on average of 48 hours per week. 

Main Duties:

  • The post holder will be working in the General Medicine team, there will be potential cover in other specialties such as COTE, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Stroke, Respiratory and lots more.
  • You will be required to refer patients to other specialties as appropriate
  • The successful applicant will be actively participating on the middle grade on-call rota which will involve a mix of day shifts, twilights, nights, and weekends. 
  • You will be assigned both a clinical and educational supervisor and will receive regular appraisals in order to build their portfolio. There are departmental audits, research, and local teaching sessions which can be participated in. There is a study leave allowance for relevant professional exams and courses. 
  • Involvement in relevant administrative duties.
  • Can gain extra clinic exposure in Same Day Emergency Care.

 The Hospital:

This opportunity is based at a 600+ bed hospital in the North East of England. It is a large, modern, purpose built hospital with a range of clinical services, medical sub-specialties managed on-site.

It is filled with supportive, welcoming, friendly doctors who see this department as their second home. The senior team are very big on helping junior doctors thrive in their career and support them with getting to that consultant level. 

They pride themselves on being big on international community within the hospital its self and knows how important it is to have all communities come together and work as a team.

The location:

North east England is one of the most affordable regions in the UK so cost of living is very manageable compared to elsewhere. As a medium sized city, it can provide a great deal of the amenities you’ll need without the feeling of being in a crowded city. 

Leeds, one of the biggest cities in the region, is only a short journey away from this location and it is a large, bustling multicultural hub in the northeast of England. 

There are over 35 schools rated ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ in this location, so there are great options with regards to education. It is also just over an hour away from Manchester Airport so it is easy to travel and see loved ones who are overseas.

Requirements:

The team are open to applications from a range of individuals. This may be experience in General Medicine, Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, or any medical sub-specialty (especially Diabetes and Endocrinology, Care of the Elderly, or Infectious Disease). 

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 
  • Occupational English Test (OET) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • GMC Registration either waiting ID check or Complete 
  • Medicine experience at a Registrar level
  • ALS is required 

Desirable:

  • NHS experience
