There are 10 consultant Paediatricians with a range of sub-specialty interests, including epilepsy, allergy, diabetes and endocrinology, respiratory, and community paediatrics.

The hospital is a level 1 SCBU so if there are pieces of evidence that an individual must gather that can’t be completed internally, the team can work to arrange this, e.g. some time at a local tertiary neonates unit or rotating to necessary different specialities etc. There is weekly training within the department as well as study leave budgets, and weekly SPA time. Individuals are encouraged to get involved in audits and quality improvement projects. Doctors are encouraged to get involved in formal and informal training of undergraduate students, postgraduate trainees, nurses, and AHPs, in a variety of settings, e.g. ad hoc, bedside, formal lectures and tutorials.

The location:

The hospital is located in the north east of England. The location provides the best of both worlds: it is good sized town with beautiful English countryside on your doorstep while also being located close to one of the largest major cities in the north of England. This means you can easily get out into relaxing green countryside as well as easily being in the middle of a bustling city. This means all of your needs are met in terms of shopping, international community and places of worship, parks, cinemas etc. There are many good schools in and around the town, and in addition there are several excellent universities in this region of England.
