NHS Specialty Doctor in Oncology 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Oncologist to join a team of Consultants in Clinical and Medical Oncology and receive close support and training to develop in your NHS Oncology career. You will have a balanced job plan with tumour site rotations which will ensure maximum exposure to NHS Oncology practice and contribute towards sign-off for CESR Specialist Registration. The rota will be the standard 10PA = 40-hour p/w job plan, and is likely to include the following:

  • Working closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team across sub-specialities
  • Prescribing chemotherapy and managing treatment complications
  • Radiotherapy planning
  • Supporting Consultants in Out-Patient clinics
  • Supporting the chemotherapy day unit
  • Partaking in ward-rounds
  • Teaching undergraduate/postgraduate/junior colleagues
  • Participating in clinical trials
  • Attending relevant MDT meetings

This is a unique opportunity to join a renowned Trust with a welcoming and close-knit team. The Trust has an overall CQC rating of ‘Good’ due its caring, effective, and well-led services.  The Cancer Centre has close links with two local Universities and provides a range of opportunities to take part in research projects with experts. It is home to a state-of-the-art Chemotherapy Unit with a well-established team of nurses, middle grade, and junior doctors. There is a purpose-built centre for Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy which is leading for delivering techniques such as 4D CT and DIBH. The department has

  • 4 Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerators
  • HDR Brachytherapy Unit
  • Xstrahl Superficial X-ray therapy – 80kV & 120kV
  • Toshiba wide-bore CT-simulator, with Prosoma Virtual simulation
  • Aria Oncology management system and Eclipse treatment planning

The Requirements 

  • Full GMC Registration (essential)
  • Minimum 4 years of oncology specific experience (essential)
  • Full MRCP (UK), FRCR (UK) or equivalent post-graduate qualification (desirable)
