One of the friendliest and most welcoming Trusts is looking for Specialty Doctors in General Medicine. This is an excellent opportunity for highly experienced internalist, who are looking for a senior position in the NHS. This Trust has worked with many international doctors in the past and are able to support doctors through their CESR applications. Working in this general medicine department will allow you to get a great understanding of the NHS, as well as provide many opportunities to explore sub-specialties of interest.

Main Duties: 

  • Participate in daily consultant-led ward rounds.
  • Liaise with the SDEC, respiratory, diabetes, neurology, and cardiology teams, and take responsibility for the day-to-day management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Participate in medical audit/quality improvement/clinical governance projects.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of junior doctors and members of staff.
  • Work alongside your team in clinics of different specialties.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, as required.

The Hospital:

This Trust has multiple hospitals, with over 700 inpatient beds at the largest site. As a general medicine doctor, you will work closely with the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) team. You will also have the opportunity to provide high quality care within the cardiology, respiratory, diabetes, and neurology teams. The general medicine team is made up of Consultants, Specialists, and junior doctors, and specialists nurses. The Clinical Director for General Medicine is incredibly supportive of international doctors, and helping them get their specialist registration.

The location:

This hospital is based near one of the biggest and most multicultural cities in England. Here, you will have no shortage of amenities, good schools, and great public transport links to get you around the city and other parts of the country. The city is a great place for international doctors, who are looking for a safe area to live, and the cost of living in the North is much lower compared to other parts in the UK. The closest airport is less than an hour away, meaning you can visit friends and family overseas with ease. 

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • Full MRCP (or equivalent).
  • GMC with license to practice.
  • Experience in General/Acute Medicine
