Shape the Future of ENT Care in Regional NSW

Are you a dedicated ENT Specialist ready to take on a meaningful role where your skills and leadership can directly impact the health of a large regional community? This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work within a high-performing, collaborative surgical team at a modern referral hospital in regional Western New South Wales.

Enjoy the professional challenge of managing diverse ENT cases while mentoring junior staff, contributing to surgical service development, and being part of a welcoming, forward-thinking health district.

Main Duties:

  • Ward and Outpatient Work: Provide clinical care to patients across inpatient wards, outpatient ENT clinics, and the emergency department.
  • Patient Base: A wide demographic across adult and paediatric ENT presentations from rural and remote communities, often requiring broad and adaptable clinical skills.
  • Multidisciplinary Team: Collaborate with a strong team of surgeons, registrars, JMOs, anaesthetists, allied health professionals, and rural GPs.
  • On-Call Commitments: Participate in an ENT on-call roster as scheduled, with local and district-wide referrals.
  • Academic and Quality Work: Involvement in JMO/registrar training and education, contribution to accreditation efforts, hospital grand rounds, clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and continuous quality improvement projects.

The Hospital:

This is a major regional referral hospital with more than 170 beds and a wide range of specialist services. Recent investments have expanded surgical capacity and upgraded clinical facilities. The hospital supports a broad geographical area and plays a key role in medical education and workforce development for Western NSW.

The Location:

The position is based in a regional city in Western New South Wales, with a population of approximately 55,000. The city offers:

  • Affordable, spacious living with lower housing costs than metro centres.
  • Excellent schools (public and private) and child-friendly amenities.
  • Strong transport links, including daily flights to Sydney and rail/highway access to other major NSW cities.
  • Vibrant community with a growing international population, rich cultural activities, and outdoor lifestyle opportunities.
  • A safe, relaxed environment that’s ideal for both families and individuals seeking work-life balance.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent international qualifications eligible for specialist registration.
  • Full registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated excellence in ENT clinical practice, communication, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Strong interest in teaching, training, research, and healthcare quality.
  • Willingness to participate in the on-call ENT roster.
  • Clearance of a Working With Children Check, Aged Care Check, Criminal Record Check, and Health Assessment.
