Located on the NSW–VIC border, this major regional health service is the largest provider of emergency, subacute, and specialist care between Melbourne and Canberra.
The service operates across multiple campuses and provides:

The Role

As a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist, you will play a key role in delivering safe, patient-centred anaesthesia and perioperative care. You will join a supportive team committed to clinical excellence, service growth, and training the next generation of clinicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality anaesthesia services for elective and emergency procedures across a broad surgical caseload

  • Participate in after-hours and on-call rosters

  • Deliver pre-operative assessment and post-operative care, including acute pain management

  • Contribute to ICU/HDU support as appropriate to scope of practice

  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, trainees, and medical students

  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and clinical governance

  • Engage in departmental meetings, service development, and multidisciplinary collaboration

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and utilise digital health records systems effectively

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Specialist Anaesthetist with AHPRA

  • FANZCA or equivalent, OR

  • Eligibility for recognition as a Specialist International Medical Graduate (SIMG) through ANZCA, including:

    • Comparable or partially comparable assessment pathways

    • Eligibility for expedited or short-pathway assessment (if applicable based on training and experience)

  • Demonstrated contemporary experience across general anaesthesia and relevant subspecialty areas

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills

  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice

  • Willingness to participate in on-call and emergency services

Desirable

  • Experience within a regional or rural health setting

  • Interest in teaching, simulation training, or research

  • Ability to contribute to service redesign and perioperative care improvements
