Staff Specialist – General Paediatrician 

Temporary Part-Time Position

Are you a dedicated Paediatric Specialist passionate about child and adolescent health? We are seeking an experienced General Paediatrician to lead clinical care and child protection services within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

About the Role

As a Staff Specialist in General Paediatrics with a focus on Child Protection, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, contemporary paediatric care across inpatient services, outpatient clinics, Hospital in the Home, and consultative services.

  • Provide leadership in child and adolescent medicine, including eating disorders, childhood obesity, mental health, and complex care needs.

  • Take a lead role in child protection, including availability for non-acute child protection examinations.

  • Actively contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, and service development.

  • Support and mentor junior medical officers and multidisciplinary staff through supervision, teaching and training.

  • Foster positive communication and collaborative relationships with families, carers, and healthcare teams.

This position also requires participation in an on-call roster and travel within the region as needed.

Essential Criteria

  • Registration (or eligibility) as a Specialist General Paediatrician with the Medical Board of Australia (or via an overseas specialist pathway).

  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine.

  • Proven experience in child and adolescent health, including eating disorders, obesity, mental health, and complex care.

  • Demonstrated training and experience in child protection.

  • Strong communication skills, including effective use of clinical information systems.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead within a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Commitment to teaching, ongoing education, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Valid Working With Children Check.

  • Unrestricted NSW/Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
