This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to join one of the largest trusts in the country in the heart of the capital city. We are looking for candidates able to work at Registrar level in the Emergency Medicine Department, and capable of working together with the other Registrar’s to run the shopfloor. You will also be expected to supervise the Junior Clinical Fellows in the department. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the most prestigious Trusts in the NHS where you will get exposure to a wide range of cases.

Main Duties:

The successful applicant will receive a formal job plan which will be agreed with the department before joining the department. The duties include:

  • Support the ED shop floor
  • Assist in delivering quality patient care
  • Cooperate with the other departments and refer patients if required
  • Contribute to clinical meetings
  • Provide supervision for SHOs, FY2 and FY1 doctors
  • Teaching sessions
  • Non-clinical time for personal professional development

The Department and Hospital:

The Trust has 5 different hospitals across West and Central London with 2 A&E departments. This opportunity is for candidates to join the Acute General Teaching Hospital in Central London which has been recently refurbished. We are linked with one of the world’s best universities which has helped us have a long track record in research and education, influencing care and treatment. Our Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre offer services for 84,706 patients a year, around-the-clock. Since there are no paediatric services on-site, only a small percentage of these (2000) are children. We form one of six academic health science centres in the UK.

Candidates interested in getting into CESR training or developing a certain area of interest are welcome to apply as we can support this. There will be opportunities to formally and informally develop non-clinical skills like management, quality improvement, and leadership and supervision. We have an incredible record of training and teaching, especially in quality improvement and collaborating with all staff to create ways to enhance working conditions.

London is one the most desirable locations to live in the UK due to its large international community making it a very welcoming and diverse location from doctors joining. London is a modern, innovative, and iconic city, steeped in history. There are amazing transport links making the city centre as well as the surrounding areas easily accessible. The nearest underground station is only a 9 minute walk away. For any candidates that have children, there is large number of ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’ rated schools in the local area.

Requirements:

  • Full MRCEM or NHS experience
  • 2 or more years A&E experience
  • OET or IELTS if you are applying from overseas
  • GMC Registered or registration in process
