Join an Outstanding Mental Health Trust

An NHS Foundation Trust rated Outstanding by the CQC is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). This post offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team providing high-quality care to adults with a wide range of mental health conditions.

Main Duties

  • Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to adults referred to the Community Mental Health Team.
  • Conduct 6–7 outpatient clinics per week across CMHT bases and local GP surgeries, alongside emergency and follow-up appointments.
  • Participate in Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings, case conferences, and home visits as necessary.
  • Work closely with consultants, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Take part in the Mental Health Act daytime rota (every 4–6 weeks, if Section 12(2) approved).
  • Participate in clinical governance, audits, Quality Improvement projects, and teaching of medical and non-medical trainees.
  • Regular supervision, CPD sessions, and opportunities for CESR development are provided.

The Hospital and Service

You will be based within an NHS Mental Health and Wellbeing Service that provides a full range of inpatient and community services across multiple sites in the region.

  • Inpatient facilities: Include acute, PICU, and older adult units.
  • Community Services: A network of Community Mental Health Teams, Early Intervention in Psychosis, Crisis, Liaison, and Perinatal services.
  • The Trust employs over 6,000 staff, serving a population of over one million people across both urban and rural communities.

The Location

The post is based in a vibrant and diverse town in South East England, offering a great balance of cultural life and green open spaces.

  • Transport: Excellent road and rail links to London and surrounding cities, with an international airport nearby.
  • Lifestyle: Affordable cost of living compared to major cities, surrounded by countryside, and a family-friendly community with many good schools.
  • Ideal for those seeking easy access to London while enjoying a quieter, more affordable lifestyle.
