An NHS Foundation Trust rated Outstanding by the CQC is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). You’ll be joining a progressive organisation committed to staff wellbeing, continuous improvement, and providing the highest standard of mental health and community care.
Main Duties
- Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to adults referred to the Community Mental Health Team.
- Conduct 6–7 outpatient clinics per week across CMHT bases and local GP surgeries, alongside emergency and follow-up appointments.
- Participate in Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings, case conferences, and home visits as necessary.
- Work closely with consultants, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- Take part in the Mental Health Act daytime rota (every 4–6 weeks, if Section 12(2) approved).
- Participate in clinical governance, audits, Quality Improvement projects, and teaching of medical and non-medical trainees.
- Regular supervision, CPD sessions, and opportunities for CESR development are provided.
The Hospital and Service
You will be based within an NHS Mental Health and Wellbeing Service that provides a full range of inpatient and community services across multiple sites in the region.
- Inpatient facilities: Include acute, PICU, and older adult units.
- Community Services: A network of Community Mental Health Teams, Early Intervention in Psychosis, Crisis, Liaison, and Perinatal services.
- The Trust employs over 6,000 staff, serving a population of over one million people across both urban and rural communities.

Requirements
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in psychiatry post medical qualification.
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
- Experience in Adult Psychiatry and familiarity with the Mental Health Act.
- Approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act, or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
