Join a Leading Psychiatric Liaison Service in a Major North West Teaching Hospital

BDI Resourcing are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join a highly respected Mental Health Liaison Team operating out of one of the largest acute hospitals in the North West. Working within an established multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to the psychiatric assessment and care of patients across a busy hospital setting.

Main Duties:

  • Wards: You will assess and manage patients throughout a large 800-bed acute hospital, including A&E, trauma, neurology, complex care, and surgical wards.
  • Patient Group: Adults aged 16+ presenting with a range of mental health conditions, often in a complex physical health context. Referrals total 500–600 per month.
  • Team: Join a multidisciplinary team comprising 3 consultants, advanced practitioners, band 6-8 clinicians, psychologists, and admin support.
  • On-Call Rota: No formal on-call rota, though there may be opportunities for weekday participation (subject to job planning).
  • Non-Clinical Time: 2 SPAs per week are included for CPD, audit, teaching, leadership, and other developmental opportunities.

The mental health liaison team works across the entire hospital footprint and operates 24/7. Requirements:

To be eligible for this post, you will need:

  • Full GMC Registration
  • A minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience (including at least 3 years in psychiatry)
  • MRCPsych (or equivalent) desirable but not essential
  • Section 12(2) MHA approval (or eligibility within 4 months)
  • Experience working in MDT settings and with psychiatric patients in acute environments
  • A strong interest in liaison psychiatry or adult psychiatry in general hospital settings
