Introduce the Job:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Breast Services to join one of the UK’s busiest breast units within a leading NHS Trust in the East of England. This is a fantastic role for candidates looking to consolidate their experience in oncoplastic breast surgery and develop their clinical, educational, and research interests within a supportive and high-performing multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties:

• Wards: Work will primarily be outpatient and theatre-based with clinical sessions across multiple sites, including purpose-built breast units and surgical theatres.
• Patients: You will assess and manage patients with breast cancer and benign breast conditions. This includes diagnostic clinics, follow-up care, and participation in complex surgical cases.
• Team: You’ll be working alongside a multidisciplinary team including breast surgeons, plastic surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, CNSs, care practitioners, radiographers, genetic counsellors, and research staff.
• On-Call Rota: There is no on-call requirement for this post.
Non-Clinical Time: 1 SPA per week for teaching, audit, CPD, and governance. The Trust actively supports research, with involvement in national trials including ATNEC, OPTIMA, and MELODY, and maintains strong links with Anglia Ruskin University and the London Deanery.

The Hospital:

This is a large, multi-site NHS Trust with dedicated breast units across all its major hospitals. With over 1,300 breast cancer diagnoses annually, it ranks among the largest breast services in the UK. Surgical services are supported by stable theatre teams and integrated plastic surgery input. The Trust also hosts a national Oncoplastic Fellowship and is involved in piloting innovative training programmes in breast radiology.

The Location:

Based in the East of England, the hospital is in a well-connected region with excellent rail and road links to London, and international access via nearby airports. The area is family-friendly with highly rated schools, affordable housing options, and a balanced lifestyle between urban and coastal living. It is a welcoming location for professionals relocating with families or seeking to advance their NHS careers.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:
 • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
 • Minimum 4 years of postgraduate training, with at least 2 years in breast surgery or relevant specialty training
 • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
