Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics and Neonates

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic doctor to join a friendly and supportive paediatric team as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics. This post provides excellent experience in acute paediatrics and Level 1 neonatal care, making it an ideal role for those considering a career in paediatrics or looking to consolidate registrar-level experience.
Main Duties:
You will join the middle grade rota, working alongside ST trainees, specialty doctors and consultants. The role will include:
- Acute inpatient and ambulatory paediatric care in a busy short-stay assessment unit
- Attendance at paediatric emergencies presenting via the Emergency Department
- Neonatal assessments, resuscitation and management of sick newborns in the Special Care Baby Unit
- General paediatric outpatient clinics under consultant supervision
- Supervision and teaching of more junior trainees and medical students
- Participation in audit, governance and service development activities
About the Paediatric Unit:
The paediatric service provides a full range of acute and outpatient care for children and young people across the local population. Facilities include:
- A dedicated 24-hour children’s assessment unit supported by advanced nurse practitioners
- A planned investigation unit and children’s outpatient department with seven consulting rooms
- An 8-cot Special Care Baby Unit, including provision for short-term intensive care, supported by neonatal nurse practitioners
- Close integration with maternity services (approx. 1,900 deliveries annually)
- Strong links with regional tertiary centres for specialist referrals and support

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- At least 12 months experience working at registrar level in Paediatrics in the NHS
- Confidence in managing a wide range of acute paediatric conditions and neonatal care
- Up-to-date APLS/EPALS certification (NLS desirable)
- Strong communication, teamwork and teaching skills
