Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic registrar in Paediatrics to join a busy and dynamic paediatric team in a large district general hospital in the North West of England. This post is offered for two years initially, with the possibility of extension, and is designed to provide excellent clinical experience across acute general paediatrics.
This post offers the chance to gain wide-ranging experience in a busy paediatric service, supported by a large team of consultants and middle grades, while enjoying excellent opportunities for professional development.
Main Duties:
- Acute second on-call cover for paediatric wards and the paediatric assessment unit
- Managing paediatric emergencies referred from the Emergency Department
- Conducting consultant-supported ward rounds and outpatient clinics
- Supervising and teaching junior doctors and medical students
- Participating in child protection cases under consultant supervision
- Contributing to audit, clinical governance, and service improvement projects
The Department:
The unit provides a wide range of services across general paediatrics, neonatology (covered by a separate team), paediatric neurology, and community child health. Facilities include:
- 30 inpatient paediatric beds plus 12 day-case beds
- An 8-bed paediatric assessment unit for GP and ED referrals
- Dedicated outpatient department seeing over 7,000 patients annually
- Close links with regional tertiary centres, with visiting consultants in nephrology, cardiology, genetics, and surgery
- Active research collaborations with the regional Medicine for Children Network

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full GMC registration
- Experience at registrar (tier 2) level in paediatrics
- APLS/EPALS
- MRCPCH
- Strong communication, teaching, and teamworking skills
