This is a multifaceted role providing care across both inpatient and outpatient settings, working within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team to address complex and varied addiction presentations across the lifespan. The role also offers leadership, research, and teaching opportunities in a community-focused, innovation-driven environment.
Main Duties:
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-informed clinical services across inpatient detoxification, outpatient drug and alcohol clinics, opioid substitution programs, and community-based outreach services.
• Manage a caseload including patients with a range of substance use disorders and comorbidities.
• Provide clinical leadership to junior doctors and allied health professionals within multidisciplinary team meetings and service delivery settings.
• Participate in a rotating on-call roster.
• Engage in teaching of medical students and staff development across professions.
• Contribute to research, service development, quality improvement, and performance evaluation activities.
• Support the integration of addiction services across the region, including collaboration with general practitioners, NGOs, and community-based partners.
The Hospital and Services:
This position spans multiple regional facilities across Western NSW Local Health District, with primary hubs in towns such as Orange, Bathurst, and Dubbo. The service offers specialist addiction medicine and psychiatry support, with outreach provided to smaller communities in the region. You will join a passionate team committed to improving health outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders across a diverse geographical footprint.
The Location:

Towns like Orange and Bathurst provide excellent schools, universities, and healthcare infrastructure, as well as cultural events, wine regions, and outdoor activities. The region is well-connected via regional airports with direct links to Sydney. It is ideal for families, professionals seeking a better work-life balance, and anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed yet fulfilling lifestyle while making a real difference in the community.

• Experience in addiction medicine or psychiatry across inpatient/outpatient/community settings
• Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary clinical environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and stakeholders
