  • Minimum Consultant Salary: $262,376 AUD (£126,701)
  • Maximum Consultant Salary: $354,479 AUD (£171,177)

Additional income may be available in private practice.

What Overseas Doctors Need

If you’re UK-trained or FRCR/FRACP-equivalent, Australia is very accessible. To work as a consultant here, you will need:

  1. Specialist Recognition (SIMG Assessment) – assessed by the relevant college (RACP for neurology).
  2. AHPRA Registration – the national licence to practise medicine in Australia.
  3. English Test (OET/IELTS) – unless exempt.
  4. Visa – typically a Subclass 482 Skilled Worker visa.
