We are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Neuroradiologist with a special interest in Neurointervention to join an expanding interventional team and play a pivotal role in advancing a 24/7 Mechanical Thrombectomy (MT) stroke service. 

This opportunity is based at a major NHS Trust serving a regional population of over 4 million, home to specialist neurosciences and trauma services, with a rich academic and research portfolio.

About the Role

You will join a dynamic team of 17 Neuroradiologists, including 5 Interventional Neuroradiologists, delivering high-quality care across Nottingham and the East Midlands.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing and developing neurointervention services
  • Providing weekday and weekend MT and haemorrhagic stroke interventions
  • Attending stroke and neurovascular MDTs
  • Active involvement in education and research

The Ideal Candidate

  • GMC registered with FRCR (or equivalent)
  • Completed specialist training in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Recent NHS experience is essential
  • Enthusiastic about developing innovative services and mentoring juniors

This provisional job plan totals 10 PAs, with flexible structuring supported as the service evolves. Part-time applicants are welcome.

Imaging Infrastructure

The Trust boasts a comprehensive suite of diagnostic and interventional imaging equipment across two campuses, including:

  • 9 MRI scanners including intra-operative facilities
  • 7 CT scanners (Philips, GE, Siemens)
  • 8 fluoroscopy units
  • Dedicated INR suites (Philips Allura Biplane and FD20)
  • Extensive ultrasound and plain film imaging systems

Relocation and On-call Requirements

The appointee is expected to reside within 10 miles or 30 minutes of QMC due to on-call commitments. Flexible and remote working options can be explored where feasible.
