Job Title: Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine
Salary Range: £105,504 - £139,882 (+ 3% on-call supplement)
Location: East of England
Duration: Fixed-term (8PA Contract)


 This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Palliative Medicine Consultant to join a well-established and supportive specialist team in the East of Engalnd. With a mix of inpatient, outpatient and multidisciplinary work, this role is ideal for both newly qualified and experienced consultants seeking tertiary-level experience or looking to relocate to the East of England.

Main Duties
• Wards: You will primarily work within the main hospital site covering inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, and have links with a state-of-the-art 16-bed palliative care unit.
• Patients: You’ll provide specialist input to patients with complex palliative needs, roughly 50% of whom have non-malignant disease, including those seen in acute oncology, breathlessness clinics and front-door services.
• Team: Join a team of 8 consultants, alongside specialist nurses (Band 6/7), clinical psychologists, social workers, CNSs, GPs in training, and an experienced administrative team.
• On-call rota: 1 in 9 non-resident second on-call (3% supplement) and 1 in 7 resident weekend inpatient reviews (1PA).
Non-clinical time: Yes – time is allocated for SPA activities including audit, research, governance, education and leadership. Research is highly encouraged with strong links to the University of East Anglia and the Norwich Research Park.

The Hospital
 This is a 1,200-bed teaching hospital serving over 900,000 people. It offers a comprehensive range of secondary and tertiary services, with particular strengths in Oncology, Haematology, Cardiology, Renal, Geriatrics and Emergency Medicine. There is a second site offering outpatient and day-case services.

The Location
 A vibrant, historic city in East Anglia with a population of around 140,000. Known for its excellent quality of life, it is family-friendly with many outstanding schools, a thriving international community, low cost of living compared to London, and superb transport links, and offers convenient flights across the UK and Europe. The city is well-connected by rail and road to Cambridge and London (under 2 hours). The surrounding countryside and coast provide exceptional lifestyle opportunities.

Requirements
 To apply for this position, you will need the following:
 • Full MRCP(UK) or equivalent
 • Full GMC Registration with license to practise
 • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine via CCT or CESR
 • Experience equivalent to UK CCT training in Palliative Medicine
 • Proven ability to lead, teach and contribute to service improvement
 • Participation in audits, clinical governance, and ideally, research and teaching
