GP - Salaried Role | DPA | MM4 | Far West NSW
- AUD $219,000 – $268,000 per year (plus relocation, accommodation, and vehicle)
- Australia, New South Wales
- Permanent
An iconic Australian rural health service is looking to welcome up to four UK-trained GPs to a base in Far West NSW, on the Expedited Specialist Pathway. This is a genuinely distinctive clinical and lifestyle opportunity — salaried employment with a well-respected not-for-profit, covering a vast stretch of outback NSW, with full relocation support, accommodation, and vehicle provided.
Location & registration status
- Suburb: Far West NSW (Rural)
- DPA status: DPA-approved
- MMM classification: MM4
The clinic is based in a quintessential Australian outback town — a heritage-listed mining city with a population of around 17,000, set in the red-dirt landscape of Far West NSW. It's 5 hours by road to Adelaide (which is closer than Sydney in practical terms) and has its own regional airport with direct flights to Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne — so you're remote, but genuinely well-connected. The cost of living is meaningfully lower than anywhere on the east coast, and housing is exceptionally affordable. For GPs who want the real Australian outback experience — stars you can actually see, space, heritage architecture, a strong arts community — this delivers it in a way most rural postings can't.
About the role
This is a permanent salaried GP role with a well-established rural health service, based at a facility which covers around 640,000 square kilometres of outback NSW. The work is genuinely varied — standard GP consulting alongside the broader rural generalist scope you'd expect in this kind of setting, with on-site clinical support and a team experienced at inducting new GPs into outback practice.
Expected workload sits around 25–30 patients per day, which reflects the population density rather than being deliberately throttled — you'll see a genuine rural case mix, from routine consults through to more acute presentations.
Crucially, the base has supervision capacity for ESP (Expedited Specialist Pathway) candidates — increasingly rare in the Australian market and one of the main draws of this role for UK-trained GPs who need a supervised pathway to fellowship.
Package & earnings
- Salaried role — AUD $219,000 – $268,000 per year (scale to be confirmed per candidate)
- Relocation allowance up to AUD $30,000
- Accommodation covered by the employer
- Vehicle allowance included
- 3-year contract with 482 visa sponsorship
Employment model
Salaried permanent employment — no billings, no service fees, no private-practice administration. Straightforward employment terms with a well-established not-for-profit employer.
Visa & AHPRA support
Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration on the Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP), with on-site supervision capacity at the Broken Hill base. 482 visa sponsorship included as part of the 3-year contract, with a clear pathway to PR. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed, and the employer's workforce team is experienced at supporting international GPs through the transition.
Who we're looking for
- UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
- Suited to candidates on the ESP requiring supervision at a DPA MM4 location
- Interest in rural generalist practice and community-focused care
- Comfortable committing to a 3-year contract in exchange for the enhanced package
- Genuine interest in outback Australian living — this is Far West NSW, not a coastal posting
Next steps
Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, ESP timelines, visa options, and what life actually looks like at an outback rural health base.
Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — ESP and visa processes take time to do properly, and a 3-year contract is worth planning toward.
