GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | Northern Brisbane QLD

GP-16
  • AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
  • Australia, Queensland
  • Permanent

A long-established, independently-owned mixed-billing practice around 30 minutes from central Brisbane is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to the team. The lead GP has run the clinic as a family practice for 15 years and is looking for a colleague to help meet patient demand — some patients have been with the practice for two decades, so the continuity and loyalty of the base is genuinely unusual.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Northern Brisbane region QLD
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

The practice sits around 30 minutes from central Brisbane, in an established community with a strong local employer base (the patient demographic includes a meaningful proportion of industrial workers). Brisbane itself offers year-round warm weather, genuine outdoor lifestyle, and property prices meaningfully lower than Sydney or Melbourne. The Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are within easy reach for weekends, and Brisbane has a growing arts, food, and sport scene without the cost or congestion of the southern capitals.

About the practice

This is an independent, family-run practice — not corporate, not part of a group — with the same lead GP in place for 15 years. That continuity shows in the patient base: some families have been with the practice for 20+ years, which is increasingly rare in Australian general practice. The lead GP is a Fellow of the RACGP with a long career in both UK-style and Australian primary care, and the clinic has a loyal, established patient following rather than a transactional walk-in model.

The clinical work is broad, with scope for procedural work if that's an interest area for you — earnings potential varies considerably depending on procedural scope. Patient demographics include a strong base of local workers and their families, with good continuity-of-care opportunities across chronic disease, occupational health, and general family medicine.

The role has come up because the lead GP is looking to scale back clinical hours to pursue other interests, and the clinic has more patient demand than a single GP can reasonably meet. This is a genuine replacement role with a ready-made patient base, not a speculative addition.

Package & earnings

  • 70/30 billing split in your favour
  • Earnings potential of AUD $300,000–$600,000 per year for a full-time GP, depending on procedural scope
  • Mixed billing model with a loyal, established patient base from day one
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Mixed billing — a blend of private fees and bulk billing across the patient base.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and visa sponsorship — typically the 482 or Skills in Demand visa, with a clear PR pathway. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Interest in long-term, continuity-based general practice — this is not a transactional, high-churn clinic
  • Procedural skills valued for candidates wanting to maximise earnings
  • Comfortable in an independent, family-run practice where autonomy and long-term patient relationships matter more than corporate infrastructure
  • Open to relocating to Brisbane and embracing the Queensland lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
