GP - Mixed Billing | DPA | MM1 | Brisbane Region QLD
- AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
- Australia, Queensland
- Permanent
A well-established mixed-billing practice group in Ipswich is looking to welcome two UK-trained GPs — one at each of its two sister sites, around 10 minutes apart. The group already has a UK-trained GP successfully in post (8 months in, with monthly billings consistently in the $55,000–$63,000 range), so this is a setting that genuinely works for UK doctors.
Location & registration status
- Suburbs: Ipswich QLD
- DPA status: DPA-approved at both sites (Medicare provider number available from day one)
- MMM classification: MM1
Ipswich sits around 40 minutes west of central Brisbane, with direct rail and motorway access into the city. The region is in the middle of a significant growth phase — the 2032 Brisbane Olympics is driving substantial infrastructure and population investment across South East Queensland, with Ipswich one of the major beneficiaries. Housing is dramatically more affordable than Brisbane itself or the eastern-state capitals, schools are strong, and the lifestyle suits GPs who want city access without metropolitan pricing. Brisbane's beaches (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) are both within easy reach, as is the Scenic Rim wine and food region.
About the practice
The group operates two sister sites in Ipswich — both established, doctor-led, and supported by an experienced clinical and administrative team. The combined practice has around five GP supervisors available across the two sites, which provides genuinely strong supervision capacity for incoming ESP candidates.
Clinical work is broad family medicine. Both sites operate dedicated skin clinics and travel clinics, also running a musculoskeletal clinic — giving incoming GPs scope to develop sub-specialty work if they choose. Patient demographics are weighted toward established families, 40+ adults, and a meaningful veteran population, with strong continuity of care across long-tenured patient relationships.
Standard appointments are 10 minutes, with most GPs pacing at 4–5 patients per hour. The current Medicare consult fee is $90 per appointment, rising to $94 from July 2026.
The group has strong patient demand for women's health services and is particularly keen to grow capacity here as long-serving GPs scale back hours over the coming year. The role is genuinely a replacement rather than speculative — patients are already established, books are heavy, and an incoming GP will have a meaningful clinical load from week one.
Package & earnings
- 65/35 billing split in your favour (35% service fee)
- Real-world earnings reference: the group's GPs averaging around $55,000/month billing
- Sign-on incentive payments preferred over hourly guarantee:
- AUD $7,500 on day one
- AUD $7,500 at month 12
- Patient demand is genuinely strong
- Full-time or part-time considered
Billing model
Mixed billing — predominantly private, with bulk billing for under-10s and individual GP discretion otherwise. Each GP decides their own billing approach within the practice framework.
Visa & AHPRA support
Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials), with strong on-site supervision capacity — approximately five accredited supervisors across the two sites, which is unusually robust for a practice group of this size.
Two visa pathway options:
- 482 visa, 2-year contract — the standard temporary skilled visa with a clear pathway to PR after the contract
Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, visa timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification, working alongside a practice that already has a UK GP successfully in post and understands realistic transition timelines.
Who we're looking for
- UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
- Suited to both fellowed GPs and those needing ESP supervision (strong supervisor pool available)
- Interest in women's health particularly welcomed given current patient demand
- Comfortable with a 10-minute consultation pace and predominantly private billing
- Open to relocating to South East Queensland and embracing the Brisbane region lifestyle
Next steps
Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through both roles, the AHPRA pathway, the choice between 482 and 186 visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.
Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly, and the choice between visa pathways is worth thinking through carefully with someone who knows the trade-offs.
