GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM5 | Wheatbelt WA

GP-11
  • AUD $250,000 – $400,000 per year
  • Australia, Western Australia
  • Permanent

A long-established rural family practice in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region is looking to welcome up to two UK-trained GPs  — single applicants or a husband-and-wife team both considered. The clinic sits on the grounds of the local hospital, which creates a genuinely unusual opportunity: GPs with UK emergency medicine experience can pick up ED shifts at the hospital alongside their GP work.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Wheatbelt region WA
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM5

This is an established rural town roughly 3 hours south-east of Perth, in the heart of the WA Wheatbelt. The area offers genuine rural Australian living — affordable housing, strong community ties, good local schools, and the kind of pace that suits GPs who want to actually know their patients. Perth is within driving distance for city weekends, and the broader Wheatbelt offers big skies, low cost of living, and a welcoming community character. The nearby town of Katanning (where the group's sister practice is based) has a notably diverse community, including an established Muslim population with a local mosque and halal butcher.

About the practice

The clinic is part of a well-run group operating across two Wheatbelt sites with 10 GPs in total. The site sits on the grounds of the local hospital, and GPs with UK emergency medicine experience are able to pick up ED shifts there alongside their GP work — a meaningful earnings boost and a way to keep acute skills current.

The practice is an active teaching practice hosting students and trainees from Perth's universities, and is accredited to support Rural Generalist training. The patient base across the group is around 10,000 across a broad socio-economic demographic, and the practice would particularly welcome GPs with interests in dermatology, women's health, or emergency medicine.

The group moved to a fully bulk billing model in November 2025, and GP earnings have since increased by 10–15% — worth understanding if you're comparing against mixed billing roles elsewhere.

Package & earnings

  • 65/35 billing split in your favour (service fee 30–35%, depending on candidate)
  • Full bulk billing — earnings up 10–15% since the transition in late 2025
  • Income guarantee available, though incoming GPs expected to be busy from day one
  • Relocation support negotiable for the right GP
  • Option to pick up ED shifts at the Hospital for candidates with UK emergency medicine experience
  • Full-time or part-time considered, with flexibility for a husband-and-wife team

Billing model

Fully bulk billing (transitioned in November 2025).

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration (Specialist or Expedited Specialist Pathway depending on your credentials) and 482 visa sponsorship, with a clear PR pathway. The practice has experience supporting international GPs through the registration and relocation process. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Couples welcomed — happy to accommodate husband-and-wife GP teams
  • Interest in dermatology, women's health, or emergency medicine particularly welcomed
  • UK emergency medicine experience valuable for GPs wanting to combine GP work with ED shifts at the on-site hospital
  • Open to rural Australian living and long-term community-focused care

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
