GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM1 | Southern Adelaide SA

GP-25
  • AUD $250,000 – $400,000 per year
  • Australia, South Australia
  • Permanent

A privately-run bulk-billing practice just south of Adelaide is looking to welcome a UK-trained GP to its team. The practice has one of the clearer UK-friendly track records we see in Australian general practice: the lead GP trained and worked in the UK before relocating to Australia four and a half years ago, and three of the current six GPs are UK-trained — with the two most recent arrivals coming through the Expedited Specialist Pathway. For UK GPs wanting a genuinely soft landing into Australian practice, this is a posting where the team understands what you're leaving behind and what you're walking into.

Location & registration status

  • Suburb: Southern Adelaide SA
  • DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
  • MMM classification: MM1

This suburb sits on Adelaide's southern edge, around 35km south of the CBD, within easy reach of both central Adelaide and the McLaren Vale wine region just to the south. Adelaide consistently ranks among the world's most liveable cities, with a slower pace than Sydney or Melbourne, excellent schools, short commutes, and meaningfully lower property prices than the eastern capitals. Southern Adelaide offers genuine beachside living at a fraction of Sydney prices — the coast is minutes away, and the city is close enough for full metro amenities without the cost.

About the practice

The clinic is independently owned and run by a Fellow of the RACGP who trained and practised in the UK before relocating to Australia. The current team includes six GPs — three UK-trained, with the two most recent joining via the Expedited Specialist Pathway. That gives a genuinely unusual level of institutional knowledge around supporting UK GPs through the registration, relocation, and transition process.

Most GPs run 15-minute appointments (some 10-minute, for more established colleagues), with an average pace of 4.5 patients per hour. The practice does significant work with local nursing homes, which provides a steady patient base that helps new GPs hit full clinic capacity typically within 4–5 months of starting. Clinical scope is broad general practice, with support for any sub-specialty interests you'd like to develop.

Package & earnings

  • Bulk billing model with access to the federal triple bulk billing incentive (12.5% paid quarterly)
  • Established GPs average AUD $300–$350 per hour once up to speed — equivalent to approximately $85 per patient including the incentive
  • AUD $150/hr income guarantee for the first 6 months while you build your patient base
  • AUD $10,000 relocation allowance plus additional support to be confirmed
  • 6 months of on-site supervision available for ESP candidates
  • Full-time or part-time considered

Billing model

Currently bulk billing with the federal triple incentive structure. The practice reviews billing model annually to ensure the approach remains optimal for both GPs and patients — so if a future shift to mixed billing would benefit the team, that's an open conversation rather than a fixed model.

Visa & AHPRA support

Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration, with on-site supervision capacity for Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP) candidates — the practice has already successfully guided two UK GPs through the ESP process. 482 visa sponsorship is provided, with a clear pathway to permanent residency after two years. Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification where needed, working alongside a practice that genuinely understands the UK-to-Australia transition.

Who we're looking for

  • UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
  • Particularly suited to ESP candidates needing on-site supervision — this practice has a proven track record of supporting this pathway
  • Comfortable with bulk billing, high-volume primary care alongside nursing home work
  • Interest in long-term community-focused general practice
  • Open to relocating to South Australia and embracing Adelaide's lifestyle

Next steps

Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.

Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly.
