Duration: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)
A leading public health service in Central Western NSW is seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Specialist in General and Respiratory Medicine to join their dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist passionate about delivering high-quality care, teaching, and continuous improvement within a supportive regional setting.
Main Duties:
• Wards: The successful applicant will work across the General Medicine and Respiratory wards within a well-established acute hospital setting.
• Patients: You'll treat a broad caseload of adult patients with general medical conditions and specialised respiratory illnesses.
• Team Structure: Work alongside a team of experienced physicians, junior medical officers, advanced trainees, and allied health professionals.
• On-Call: Participation in the General Medicine on-call roster is required. On-call expectations include site response within a reasonable time.
• Non-Clinical Work: Yes – time is allocated for teaching, audits, quality improvement, and research. Participation in hospital grand rounds and educational activities is strongly encouraged.

• Size: A major referral hospital with approximately 200 beds.
• Specialties: Offers a comprehensive range of services including surgery, intensive care, paediatrics, mental health, oncology, and maternity.
• Sites: Operates as part of a wider regional health service network, facilitating collaboration and specialist referrals.
The Location:
• Town Size: Located in a thriving regional centre with a population of around 40,000.
• Community: Family-friendly and home to a growing international community with excellent schooling options and a safe, relaxed lifestyle.
• Cost of Living: Generally lower than metro areas, offering more spacious living and better quality of life.
• Transport: Regular rail and bus services; domestic airport with direct flights to Sydney; roughly 3.5 hours’ drive to Sydney.

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent.
• Full specialist registration with AHPRA (or eligibility through a specialist pathway).
• Demonstrated experience in General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine at consultant level.
• Commitment to teaching, research, and quality improvement.
• Participation in on-call roster and ability to respond on-site within reasonable time.
• A clear criminal record check and Working With Children Check (mandatory).
