Fixed Term Consultant in Dermatology
- £109,725 - £145,478
- UK, North West
- Fixed
We are currently seeking a Consultant in Dermatology to join a forward-thinking and supportive NHS Trust renowned for its commitment to patient care and innovation. This opportunity has arisen to provide additional support to an established team and maintain continuity within a busy Dermatology department. The post is for a 12 month fixed term in the first instance with a view to extending.
What’s on offer
This position provides an excellent opportunity to join a cohesive Dermatology service where the team has a reputation for being both friendly and clinically strong. The department covers a broad range of Dermatology services including general clinics, minor ops and skin cancer work with options to tailor sessions based on your areas of interest.
While this post is a locum fixed-term appointment there is a likelihood of extension or transition into a substantive or longer-term contract for the right candidate. The Trust is well known for supporting doctors through the CESR / Portfolio Pathway and encourages applicants who are aiming to achieve Specialist Registration in the near future.
The support on offer includes a dedicated CESR lead in the Trust who has sole responsibility for ensuring that all consultants appointed on fixed term or locum contracts and all SAS doctors are given access to the resources they need to complete their portfolio. There are also close ties with highly specialised neighbouring services that can offer secondment or placement opportunity where needed during portfolio sign off.
You’ll be working within a well-resourced department supported by excellent nursing staff, a dedicated phototherapy team, and access to specialist equipment and modern facilities. Waiting lists remain a departmental focus so there may also be opportunities for additional sessions depending on service demand.
The working week will follow a standard 10 PA structure, offering a pro rata salary ranging between £109,725 to £145,478 depending on experience and in line with NHS Consultant pay scales.
The Suitable Applicant
This role will ideally suit applicants who:
- Already work as NHS Consultants and are seeking a locum opportunity offering flexibility and strong departmental support
- Are working as Consultants overseas (with full GMC registration) and wish to gain UK Consultant experience before a substantive appointment
- Are currently in a Specialist or Specialty Doctor post and ready to take the next step up to Consultant level
- Are looking for a supportive environment to help progress towards CESR / Specialist Registration
A strong background in general Dermatology is essential. Experience with minor ops, skin cancer clinics, or phototherapy would be advantageous but not required. Applicants must hold GMC registration and be ready to commence work in the near term.
