BDI Resourcing are working with a leading University Health Board in South West Wales to recruit a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Vascular Imaging and Interventional Radiology. You’ll join a dynamic and collegiate radiology team of 27 consultants, working across a multi-site health board that provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services.

This is a replacement post offering significant scope for shaping vascular imaging and IR services, with access to modern facilities, structured support, and strong clinical leadership.

Key Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be confident in:

  • Vascular Intervention: including angiography, angioplasty, embolisation and venous access procedures.
  • General Radiology: including CT, MRI and ultrasound interpretation.
  • CTA and MRA Reporting and diagnostic vascular imaging.
  • Non-vascular intervention (desirable but not essential).
  • MDT participation and preparation for vascular, surgical and cancer teams.
  • Supporting trainee education and involvement in audit and service development.

There is no compulsory on-call commitment, although participation in the general diagnostic on-call rota or regional IR rota can be discussed.

Department & Equipment

You’ll be based at the region’s largest acute hospital site, which supports a range of tertiary specialties including vascular, HPB, thoracic, cardiac and trauma surgery.
The Radiology department performs over 300,000 examinations annually and is equipped with the latest diagnostic and interventional tools including:

  • DSA Suite (2017) and Siemens IR Suite (2021)
  • Canon Prism CT (2022) and multiple 1.5T MRI systems
  • SPECT-CT, PET access, and a rolling replacement programme across all imaging modalities
  • Health Board-wide Fuji PACS and All-Wales RIS
  • Fully enabled remote reporting capabilities with VPN and home workstation support

Person Specification

  • GMC Specialist Registration in Clinical Radiology (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • FRCR (UK) or equivalent international qualification
  • Proven skills in vascular imaging and intervention
  • Broad general radiology reporting experience including CT/MRI/US
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, education and MDT collaboration
  • A flexible and team-oriented approach
