Consultant Radiologist - Urology, Gynaecology or Breast Imaging

The Opportunity

BDI Resourcing are seeking a Consultant Radiologist to join a leading NHS Trust in South East England, based at a busy university hospital site. The post offers opportunities to work in General Radiology with a subspecialty focus in Urology, Gynaecology, or Breast Imaging - areas of particular interest to the Trust.

You’ll join a large, collaborative, multi-site Radiology service consisting of over 60 Consultant Radiologists and 500+ staff, with an established plan for further transformation and innovation. This is a high-volume, high-quality imaging department with a clear commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, and career development.

Key Clinical Skills & Duties

The successful applicant should be confident in:

• General cross-sectional reporting (CT and MRI)
• Diagnostic and staging CT/MRI for Urological and Gynaecological cancers
• Breast mammography and ultrasound (if applicable)
• Plain film and general ultrasound interpretation
• Fluoroscopy (desirable)
• Participating in and leading MDTs across subspecialties
• On-call diagnostic radiology service (1:16 rota, no overnight call)

You will also be expected to:

• Deliver high-quality, timely imaging reports
• Engage in departmental teaching, training and supervision of junior doctors and advanced practitioner radiographers
• Participate in service improvement, governance and audit activities

Department & Equipment

You will be based at a regional centre for upper GI, head & neck, and plastics, with close collaboration across three major hospital sites. Each site benefits from continuous investment and a rolling equipment replacement programme. Highlights include:

• Two new 1.5T Philips MRI scanners (Broomfield)
• Two Toshiba 128-slice CT scanners with plans for a third
• Three brand new MRI systems (Southend)
• Comprehensive breast imaging suite (Siemens)
• Nuclear Medicine, fluoroscopy, and reporting hubs across sites
• Dedicated PACS workstations and teleradiology support overnight

The combined service is a Siemens and GE equipped environment, with ambitions to become an exemplar regional centre for Radiology.

Person Specification

• GMC Specialist Registration in Clinical Radiology (or within 6 months of CCT)
• FRCR (UK) or equivalent international qualification
• Demonstrated experience in general radiology and at least one subspecialty area: Urology, Gynaecology or Breast Imaging
• Confidence in contributing to MDTs, departmental teaching, and governance
• Interest in contributing to service development across a large multi-site trust
