An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a progressive Home Treatment Team (HTT) in the North West of England. This role offers the chance to provide clinical leadership within a supportive multi-disciplinary team, helping deliver high-quality acute psychiatric care in the community.

Main Duties

• Ward/Service Base: Community-based role with no inpatient responsibility. You’ll work primarily with the HTT, seeing patients at Trust sites and in their homes.
• Patient Profile: The HTT receives around 35 new referrals per week and maintains a caseload of ~40 patients, focusing on intensive community support to avoid admissions and unnecessary detentions.
• Team Structure: The HTT is multidisciplinary, including Consultants, Specialty Doctors, Mental Health Practitioners, Psychologists, Pharmacists, Occupational Therapists, Recovery Workers, and administrative staff.
• On-Call Rota: 1:17 covering General Adult and Older Adult Psychiatry in the locality, attracting a 3% availability supplement and 0.5 PA.
Non-Clinical Work: Yes. 2.5 SPAs per week for CPD, audit, research, quality improvement projects, and teaching. Opportunities also exist for postgraduate supervision and research involvement.

  • Education & Research: The Trust has strong partnerships with local universities and a well-established research and development department. Doctors are encouraged to take part in medical education, audit, and quality improvement projects.

Requirements

To apply, you will need:
 • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
 • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
 • MRCPsych or equivalent
 • CCT (or within 6 months), CESR, or equivalent
 • Approved Clinician & Section 12 status (or eligibility within 3 months)
 • Broad experience in General Adult Psychiatry
 • Commitment to teaching, audit, CPD, and clinical governance
