We are seeking a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join a Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHT) within a well-established NHS Mental Health Trust in the North West of England. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a high-performing, multidisciplinary team offering urgent and acute mental health services. You will work across multiple community settings, leading clinical care and providing senior medical input within a cohesive, patient-centred service.

Main Duties:


• Wards/Setting: Based primarily in a dedicated community mental health site, with outpatient clinics and some home visit duties as required.
• Patient Demographics: Adults (18+) in mental health crisis, including those with psychosis, bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety, and personality disorders.
• Team Composition: Includes another consultant psychiatrist, specialty doctor, core trainee, nurse practitioners, advanced nurse practitioner, psychologists, OTs, support workers, and clinical pharmacists.
• On-Call Rota: 1:25 non-resident 3rd on-call rota with consultant cover across four localities. Supported by 2nd and 1st on-call from higher and junior trainees.
Non-Clinical Time: 2.5 PAs are allocated for Supporting Professional Activities, such as teaching, research, audit, leadership, and CPD.

This NHS Mental Health Trust is one of the largest in the region, providing comprehensive mental health and community services across multiple boroughs. It includes inpatient facilities with around 1,000 beds and a wide portfolio of services including CAMHS, addiction recovery, forensic mental health, learning disability services, and high-secure psychiatric care. The Trust has a strong commitment to clinical research, education, and continuous improvement.

The service is based in a well-connected urban area in North West England. The location offers a balance of urban and suburban living with excellent road and rail transport links, and is within commuting distance of major cities and international airports. The area also benefits from a diverse, welcoming population and a strong healthcare network.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:
 • Full MRCPsych or international equivalent
 • GMC registration (with a licence to practise)
 • Section 12 approval or eligibility within 3 months
 • Approved Clinician status or eligibility within 3 months
 • Experience in crisis or community mental health settings
 • Strong clinical leadership, communication, and supervisory skills
