Consultant Paediatrician with Special Interest in Epilepsy OR Diabetes & Endocrinology

Two exciting opportunities have arisen for enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Paediatricians to join a large and dynamic paediatric team within a major district general hospital in the East of England. We are seeking one Consultant with a special interest in Paediatric Epilepsy and another with a special interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology.
Both posts combine specialist service leadership with general paediatric and neonatal commitments, offering an excellent balance of clinical responsibility, teaching, and service development. The appointees will join a friendly, supportive and well-established team delivering high-quality, child-centred care.
Main Duties:
- Provide consultant-led care in general paediatrics, neonatal medicine, and acute paediatric assessment
- Participate in the consultant on-call rota (1:16 for general paediatrics, 1:7 for neonates)
- Lead and develop specialist services in Epilepsy or Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Supervise and teach junior doctors, medical students, nurses and allied professionals
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and specialist clinics
- Engage in clinical governance, audit, research, and service improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with tertiary centres to ensure continuity of specialist care
The Hospital:
The children’s service provides comprehensive acute and outpatient paediatric care supported by a multidisciplinary team. Facilities include:
- A 20-bed paediatric ward with additional day-case capacity
- A Level 2 Neonatal Unit with 21 cots (ITU, HDU, and special care)
- A Paediatric Assessment Unit co-located with the Emergency Department
- Dedicated outpatient clinics for general and specialist paediatrics
- Subspecialty clinics including epilepsy, diabetes, respiratory, cardiology, allergy, endocrinology, and neurodevelopment
- Strong academic and educational focus, with excellent opportunities for teaching and training
- Close links with tertiary centres for complex and specialist cases

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- CCT/CESR in Paediatrics (or within six months of CCT)
- MRCPCH
- APLS and NLS certification
- Experience and/or SPIN module in Epilepsy or Diabetes & Endocrinology
- Evidence of teaching, audit, service improvement and clinical leadership
