Consultant Paediatrician with interest in Paediatric Epilepsy

This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, supportive and forward-thinking paediatric team as a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Paediatric Epilepsy. The post combines specialist epilepsy work with general paediatrics and offers the chance to shape services while enjoying a fantastic lifestyle in a beautiful part of the UK.
Main Duties:
- Provide outpatient and inpatient care in general paediatrics, including on-call participation (1:9 non-resident rota)
- Lead and contribute to specialist paediatric epilepsy clinics across the county, alongside specialist nurses and psychology colleagues
- Support acute paediatric and neonatal services through service weeks and out-of-hours cover
- Engage in multidisciplinary epilepsy team meetings, including collaboration with regional paediatric neurologists
- Teach and supervise junior doctors, medical students and wider staff groups
- Contribute to audit, clinical governance and quality improvement programmes
- Participate in research, continuing professional development (CPD) and appraisal
The Hospital:
The children’s service provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency care, with modern facilities including:
- 29 paediatric inpatient beds (with HDU capability) and a paediatric assessment unit
- A Level 2 Neonatal Unit with 20 cots (including intensive and high dependency care)
- A surgical day-case unit and a dedicated adolescent ward
- A well-established epilepsy service with consultant leadership, specialist epilepsy nurses and a clinical psychologist
- Close links with tertiary centres for neurology, surgery and other subspecialties
- Active participation in national epilepsy audits and transformation programmes

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
- Specialist Registration (or within 6 months of award) in General Paediatrics
- Experience in paediatric epilepsy, ideally with SPIN module completion or equivalent training
- Valid safeguarding training and up-to-date APLS/NLS certification
- Proven ability in teaching, supervision, audit and clinical governance
- Strong communication, teamworking and organisational skills
