- NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde - Scotland’s largest acute system including Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
- NHS Lanarkshire - Acute hospitals at Monklands, Hairmyres and Wishaw serving Glasgow’s commuter belt.
- NHS Forth Valley - Forth Valley Royal Hospital providing modern acute care to communities north‑east of Glasgow.
- NHS Ayrshire & Arran - University Hospital Ayr and Crosshouse delivering acute and emergency services to the west coast.
- NHS Lothian - Within reach for specialties and national services across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
- NHS Tayside - Acute services centred on Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary within the wider region.
Together these Trusts create a diverse clinical landscape with excellent opportunities for training, sub-specialisation and progression across medicine, surgery, emergency and diagnostic services.
About the Jobs
Imaging services in this region are central to modern diagnostics and intervention. Doctors work across cross‑sectional imaging and procedural lists, supporting timely diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Diagnostic imaging - reporting of plain film, CT, MRI and ultrasound across acute and elective pathways.
- Intervention - image‑guided procedures (biopsies, drainages, vascular access, oncological intervention) with consultant supervision as appropriate.
- Subspecialty development - exposure to neuroradiology, MSK, breast, cardiac and paediatric imaging depending on service configuration.
- MDT working - regular input to cancer and specialty MDTs, informing safe, evidence‑based care.
- Innovation & training - involvement in audit, service improvement and teaching within supportive departments.
Radiology provides a stimulating mix of diagnostics, intervention and multidisciplinary collaboration with scope to focus on areas of interest.
