An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Plastic Surgery with specialist interests in Hand Surgery, Skin Cancer Surgery, and Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction to join a renowned NHS Foundation Trust. This is a permanent role offering the chance to work in one of the UK’s largest and most diverse NHS Trusts, providing comprehensive surgical services alongside a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties:
What wards will they be spending their time in?
 a 36-bed unit for plastic surgery and burns inpatients, plus 20 day-case beds.
What kind of patients will they be seeing?
 A wide range of patients requiring plastic surgery, with a focus on hand injuries, skin cancers, and breast reconstruction following mastectomy.
What other colleagues are in the team?
 A large team of over 20 consultants with varying special interests including burns, cleft, head & neck, trauma, breast, and skin cancer surgery.
What is the on-call rota?
 On-call availability is required with a 5% availability supplement. Consultants participate in out-of-hours cover and cover for colleagues' leave.
Is there time for non-clinical work?
 Yes, 1.5 PAs per week are allocated for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA), which includes clinical governance, audit, teaching, and CPD.

The Hospital:
 This is a regional specialist centre located in Southeast England. The department has 36 inpatient beds and 20 day-case beds, with access to a wide range of surgical subspecialties. The NHS Foundation Trust includes three main hospital sites serving over 1.2 million people.

The Location:
 A vibrant and growing city located just outside London. It offers excellent schools, making it ideal for families, and is home to a diverse international community. The city is approximately 30 minutes by train from London and well-connected via major roadways. London Stansted Airport is just 35 minutes away. The area offers a lower cost of living compared to London, yet retains easy access to all the capital has to offer.

Requirements:
 To apply for this position, you will need the following:
 • Full FRCS(Plast) and ideally BSSH Hand Surgery Diploma
 • GMC Specialist Registration or eligibility within 6 months
 • Proven ability in microsurgical breast and limb reconstruction
 • Strong experience in hand surgery and participation in skin cancer MDTs
 • Evidence of teaching, clinical audit, and research activity
